Calling all Snohomish School District 2023-2024 high school students!
Calling all Snohomish School District 2023-2024 high school students! Are you interested in serving as a representative on the Student Advisory Council for the School Board? We have 10 Student Advisory Council representative positions open for the 2023-2024 school year and invite you to submit your application by May 5, 2023. Four students (one per grade level) will be selected from each Glacier Peak High School and Snohomish High School, and two students will be selected from AIM High School. Students selected to the Student Advisory Council will receive community service hours for their involvement. Learn more and apply at www.sno.wednet.edu/studentadvisory.

Watch your emails and the newsletter for more details as we get closer. Please check with your senior, they are attending graduating senior meetings at school. Here are items for your to do lists:
1.Senior Slide Show
We would like to put together a Senior slide show!
The slide show will play during the graduation ceremony on June 8.
We will use photos that have been taken on campus but would also like to have “School appropriate” pictures of your senior, including photos with family or with other 2023 AIM graduates, or a picture that shows your senior as a baby/child next to a current photo.
Seniors can also send a photo with a thank you acknowledgement to someone if their lives if they wish.
You are welcome to send multiple photos.

- Announcement from the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance: Join us for an exciting event on May 17th, where we will be celebrating and empowering girls in STEM! This event is designed to inspire young girls to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by showcasing a special guest, Alyssa Carson Astronaut hopeful who will share her personal journey towards becoming the first human on Mars.
- This is a fantastic opportunity for young girls to engage with a woman who is passionate about STEM and can inspire them to reach for the stars. Our guest speaker will share her experiences, provide insight into the world of STEM and space exploration, and offer advice on how to succeed in a STEM career.

Student Job and Internship Opportunities

Job Opportunity for Students 18+ : Work for the Snohomish School District this summer!
Details:
· The pay rate will be minimum wage.
· Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
· We value team members who are detail-oriented, goal-driven, hardworking, and dedicated.
· We hope to hire up to six summer laborers. Availability will be a key factor in our selection process, as we had some availability issues last year that impacted our workflow.
· The position can start as early as late May or early June and end in September, with the possibility of continuing for a couple of weeks to support the start of the school year.
· In July, the Technology Department works a 4-10 schedule. We will most likely continue this schedule this year, which means working ten hours a day from Monday to Thursday and having Fridays off.
· Applicants must have their own transportation to travel between schools, although we may make exceptions.
· Applicants must provide two references (e.g. Teachers, Coaches, Principals, Counselors for recent graduates, or supervisors).
· The job duties will include sorting, inventorying, boxing, cleaning, provisioning, and distributing technology to schools.

- Pathfinder Manufacturing is now taking applications for next school year! You can attend Pathfinder while you also attend AIM High School.
- WHO: High school juniors or seniors who are facing challenges in meeting graduation requirements and/or have an IEP and are interested in learning hands-on mechanical/electrical assembly and machining skills.
- WHAT: Pathfinder Manufacturing is a two-semester training program where students earn credit, get paid and gain valuable work experience while still in high school. Pathfinder Manufacturing is a leader in the precision machining, fabrication, and assembly of high-quality parts and equipment for a range of industries, including aerospace, space, automotive, defense, marine, agriculture, energy, and medical.
- WHERE: Pathfinder Manufacturing is located in Everett, WA. Transportation is provided.
- WHEN: September 12 2023- June 2024.
- WHY: Pathfinder Manufacturing’s goal is to help students who face challenges stay committed to graduating from high school while helping them learn the skills to get good paying jobs after graduation.
- HOW: Students who are interested in Pathfinder Manufacturing should see Derek in the Counseling office. Students will be interviewed, and if accepted, students must complete a 6-week classroom training program to begin working on the floor (and getting paid).
