This Week at Remynse
February 8-February 12
Inspired!
Thank you so much for being patient with me as I was gone a few days last week. I have to tell you a bit about the conference I was able to attend last week. I took part in The Leader In Me Symposium on Tuesday and Wednesday. I went to this conference only looking to find out about this program and way of thinking since I had read the book recently. I had heard many great things, but I was unprepared for such an inspiring two days. I have been to many conferences where we often get jam-packed days of "sit and get" information. We may learn new things when we go to conferences, but we never get to see them in action. This is where this conference was different.
On Day 1, we were met at the hotel by student greeters. They welcomed us and showed us to the registration table and invited us to take pictures. At the table, students also completed our registration and gave us our Welcome Packets. It was such an amazing sight! I was a little overwhelmed by seeing the students in these roles, but I was not prepared for what else I would see throughout my journey. The key-note addresses that morning came from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students! They spoke so well and were able to speak from the heart about how they are using the Leader In Me at school and at home. My head was spinning with ideas, and we were not even an hour into the conference. I just kept thinking-Our students can do this! They deserve to learn this.
I can't wait to share the rest of my experience with you in our next newsletters. There is too much to share in just one newsletter. I hope that you will be enjoying a wonderful Superbowl Sunday with family and friends. I will be glued to the TV watching the commercials and half time performances. I'm sorry Mrs. Thrift and Mrs. Lowe, but I have to say it- Go Cowboys! :)
