Bus Cards for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Students
In a continued effort to increase student safety, the transportation department in conjunction with Giesinger Elementary is implementing Pre-K and Kindergarten bus cards.
Parents, designated adult, or approved sibling must be at the bus stop with the yellow card to receive Pre-K and/or kindergarten students. If no one is there to receive the student, they will be returned to school. It is the responsibility of the parent to pick up the student(s) from the school.
This week, yellow bus rider cards will go home with our current bus students. If you need an additional sign or have changed your student's transportation to the bus, please email your child's teacher and we will get you a sign sent home.
We are excited about this new step in ensuring our pre-k and kindergarten students are connected to the correct people at their bus stop.
SMS/TEXT Message OPT-IN
Conroe ISD is in the process of switching emergency notification platforms used to communicate with parents and staff. This change requires an opt-in to the new system to continue receiving text messages. If you would like to receive SMS (text message) notifications on your mobile device, please text "Y" to 67587.
Failure to opt-in by August 20 could result in not receiving timely or emergency text messages from Conroe ISD or your child’s campus.
The mission of the Positivity Project (P2) is to empower America’s youth to build positive relationships and become their best selves. The program is a study of 26 character strengths and the differences that we all have. Starting in September, each week we will discover a new character trait. This program strives to foster better connections among people of all ages. You may notice P2 signs outside of all the classrooms. These list the top 3 character traits for the teacher or teachers in that classroom. Second through fourth grade students will also find out what their top strengths are, and PK through first grade students will explore and gain understanding of these character traits. If you would like to take the character strengths survey please go to http://www.viacharacter.org/www/Character-Strengths-Survey
You have a unique profile of 24 character strengths. Learn your strengths by taking the free, research-based VIA Survey and apply them to live a happier, more productive life.
We are very excited about this program. If you have any questions please contact the counselor, Mrs. Barton.

Attendance and Tardies
Attendance: Our school-wide attendance has been great! On average, 98% of our students have been present each day this year. Attendance is the number one indicator of student success. The instruction and learning that occur on a daily basis in the classroom is our central mission. Parents who make regular school attendance and punctuality a high priority are helping their children learn to accept responsibility, which is an important lesson for a successful life. We encourage students to become N.E.A.T. Kids—Never Ever Absent or Tardy. Students with no absences or tardies each grading period will receive a certificate and participate in a fun celebration. We strive for all our students to arrive at school before 8:00 each and every day!
Tardies: Our school doors open at 7:30 a.m. and may go to the cafeteria for breakfast or to their classroom to begin their day. Students are tardy if they are not in the builing at 8:00 a.m. Our instructional school day begins at 8:00 a.m and teachers/staff leave the front porch at 8:00 a.m.

Box Tops for Education
Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You can still clip and send them to school. Please give them to your school's PE teacher to help with purchasing new equipment.
Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box top label. If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Make sure to register Giesinger Elementary for your school to earn credit. Box Tops are still worth 10¢ each for your school. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online.
