The First Battle of Bull Run
The first battle of Bull Run was 25 miles from Washington D.C. In July of 1861 McDowell marched to Virginia in aim of taking the capital of Richmond. When McDowell hits Bull Run he has over 30,000 Confederate men to fight. The Union had 28,000 men.
Confederates Ready for Battle
While Confederate Beauregard waited for McDowell to march on Manassas he organized and drew up his own defensive plan.
