Ridgeview Middle School's Newsletter (Issue 2: 12.6.21)
The Principal's Post
Dear Ridgeview Middle School Families:
I hope each family is doing well and recharged during the CCS Wellness Week.
The school year is flying by fast. We are almost at the midway point of the school year. The first semester will end on Friday, January 14, 2022. Please continue to encourage your child to stay focused on their academics.
Parents/guardians should check Infinite Campus and Google Classroom on a regular basis to stay abreast of assignments and the progress that their child is making. Also, students should be completing 10 topics of ALEKS on a weekly basis to improve and/or accelerate their math skills. Your continued parental support is key to student success!
I wish each family a wonderful holiday season!
Natalie M. James, Principal
The Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA) is the state summative test used to determine an English learner's proficiency level and to exit from the English language program. The OELPA is required for all English learners in addition to Ohio's State Test.
Students who are taking the OELPA Assessment (January 31, 2022 - March 25, 2022) are engaging in practice sessions with Ridgeview teachers weekly.
Each student has an OELPA Practice Folder with resources to help them prepare for the assessments.
Students who are completing the practice items are being recognized on our daily announcements and receiving prizes.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)--Parent University Night
During this hour, parents learned how to create safe and brave spaces while learning to be at peace. The session was led by Mr. Omowale K. Crowder, who shared techniques and provided tools to help parents create discussion with their child. In addition, attendees learned how to respectfully interact with people with opposing views, focus on facts and research, all while building bridges and making positive connections together.
