TES Family Updates
It is my honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-24 school year! I hope you all have had a relaxing and fun summer break. I am extremely proud to serve as the Principal of this amazing learning community for the 2nd year and to continue to support the students and families of Telluride Elementary School (TES). This new school year brings the promise of dedication, focus, and energy to the mission of teaching and learning.
I would like to welcome all of our new families, whether you are joining us from another school in the area or have relocated from another city, state, or country. We are excited to share all that TES has to offer with you and believe you will soon feel as we do, that Telluride Elementary School is a special place for all children. Our teachers, support staff, and families are ready to welcome you!
Our teachers are eager to meet their new students and begin this year’s journey with them. We will be holding our annual TES Open House on Monday, August 21st from 1:30-3:30. This is a time to drop off school supplies, meet the teacher, and have ice cream on the playground. We will have Meet the Teacher Night on September 7th. This evening is designed to provide you with detailed information from your child’’s teacher(s) about expectations and learning opportunities for the 2023-24 school year.
I look forward to the start of the new school year and to continuing our collaboration of providing your children with an effective and engaging educational experience. As always, we will look to our families to be positive partners in this year’s journey. The TES staff has always made a priority of working together as a caring and compassionate learning community with professionalism, teamwork, action, and expertise. We will always put the best interests of our students at the center of our purpose. Join us in ensuring the success of all TES students. Stay healthy, stay positive, and stay connected.
As always, my door is open and our team welcomes your input. Please feel free to contact me via email at the address below or call to make an appointment to speak with me to discuss any ideas you feel will make this the best year yet!

Free and Reduced Lunch for 2023-24
Studies have shown that students who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing Breakfast and Lunch to all students at no cost, we are hoping to create a better learning environment for our students.
As in previous years, it's important for households to still provide their household income information when requested via an application. While meals will be provided at no cost to all students in participating schools, it's important for Telluride School District to continue gathering this information in order to receive full access to state and federal funding. Additional funds will go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals, support after-school activities and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, households who qualify may receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more.
The following policy contains more information on eligibility determination for free and reduced-price meals. Please note that, while the following file may reference eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals, Breakfast and Lunch will be provided free to all students in the 2023 - 2024 school year regardless of your household income.

Hello families,
In partnership with your child's school, Tri-County Health Network (TCHNetwork) is pleased to offer Skippy, a school based dental program providing comprehensive oral healthcare to your child at no out of pocket cost to you. Through Skippy we bring dental care to your children so they can spend more time in the classroom and less time traveling to a dentist!
The Skippy dental team provides the following preventive care:
• Dental Exam
• X-Rays
• Fluoride treatment
• Protective Sealants
• Cleaning
• Education to your children about how to brush and floss
• Free toothbrush, toothpaste and floss
• If needed, primary restorative care: in the form of Interim Temporary Restorations (ITR) and Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)
This convenient dental visit takes about 30-45 minutes and gets your child back in the classroom quickly.
The Telluride School District clinic will begin on Thursday September 14, 2023. The clinic will operate on Thursday, Friday and Monday through the 25th at the TIS/MS/HS (until we have seen all students enrolled). We will begin the elementary school clinic on Thursday September 28th and go through October 6th.
If you would like to sign your child up, please fill out the consent form by going to https://tchnetwork.org/skippy-consent/ or you may pick up paper form at your child’s school. This consent is valid for the entire school year, both fall and spring semesters, unless revoked by a parent or guardian. Remember, if you sign up for the fall you are automatically enrolled for the spring semester. For questions, please email dental-coord@tchnetwork.org.
Skippy is offered at no out-of-pocket costs to all families. If you have dental insurance, we will bill for services just like other dental offices. TCHNetwork offers health insurance enrollment assistance if you need insurance.
We hope to see your child this Fall!
