Principal's Message

Dear families,

As you know, we love to celebrate all of our wonderful Woodfield Wildcats who are making positive choices and following our Wildcat Way of being safe, respectful, responsible, and confident learners. Students are rewarded Cat Cash for following the Wildcat Way. Some choose to save their cash and other students visit the Scratching Post store to buy a variety of fun items. During the month of February, we set a goal to earn $21,000 in Cat Cash as a school. We will be celebrating the accomplishment of reaching this goal with an extra recess next week.

In March, students are participating in a March Madness PBIS(Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) challenge. Our goal for students this month is to use kind words with a special focus of safe play during recess. Students will earn basketballs as a class when they demonstrate kindness and safe play on the playground. We have a goal of filling a basket on a bulletin board with basketballs. When the basket is full we will celebrate with a surprise. You can see the phenomenal progress we have made as a school this week in the picture below.

During March, our SEL(Social Emotional Learning) Spotlight Skill is Social Awareness. We will tie our PBIS goal of kindness and safe play into our Spotlight Skill. We will be reading and discussing books, working to spread kindness throughout the building, and using teachable moments to demonstrate to students how our actions impact others. We want students to know that simple acts of kindness towards others make a difference.

All of the staff at Woodfield appreciate your support and are grateful for everything you do each day to support your child's success in school.

Join us in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day

What is World Down Syndrome Day?

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), is a global awareness day which has been observed since 2012. This year the day falls during Woodfield Elementary's spring break so we will be celebrating on March 17.

The date for WDSD is typically celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Please join us in celebrating the day~get those silly socks out and remember to wear them on March 17!
