Reminder: Cohort A Calendar Adjustment for Monday, 10/5
Update Regarding Hybrid Learning Schedule
In considering all health and safety aspects of managing face-to-face learning for our high school and senior high school campuses, Plano ISD implemented a hybrid learning schedule. This enabled us to reduce the number of students on campus at one time in order to provide a safe and socially distanced learning environment. The question has arisen about when the district will end the hybrid model and return to five days/week face-to-face instruction at the campus. At this time, the district has not established an end-date for the hybrid schedule. For parents who are considering a change to their child’s learning environment in the upcoming selection window, the hybrid model will remain in place for the second nine-week grading period. With face-to-face learning underway the past eight days, we are closely monitoring the number and impact of test-confirmed COVID-19 cases on each campus. We are working closely with our schools so that we may continue to evaluate and refine plans for the 2020-21 school year.
Instructional Environment Change Selection Period: 9/28 - 10/2
Parents will have the opportunity to make a change to their child’s learning environment for the 2nd Nine Weeks grading period. The window to make a change is September 28 through October 2. The deadline for completing this learning environment selection is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020. All changes will be effective on the first day of the 2nd Nine Weeks grading period which is Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Some staff may need to shift to align with new learning environment choices. Therefore, even students who do not change learning environments could experience a change to their teacher(s), course availability or class schedule as teachers are assigned based on the numbers of students and course requests in each environment. Every effort will be made to minimize teacher changes for those who did not make a learning environment change, however, we cannot guarantee that in every case.
Parents Who Do NOT Want to Make a Change of Environment
NO ACTION REQUIRED - If you are not requesting to change the current Learning Environment for your student during the 2nd Nine Weeks, then you do not need to log onto the Parent Portal to make this change. Your student(s) will be scheduled with the same learning option they had for the 1st Nine Weeks.
Parents Who WANT to Make a Change of Environment
ACTION REQUIRED - If you are requesting to change the current Learning Environment for your student during the 2nd Nine Weeks, you must log into Parent Portal to select this change for the Second Nine Weeks. Secondary students making changes to their learning environment selection are not guaranteed to be assigned to their same teacher or class schedule based upon availability
Instructions for Parent Portal
Primary guardians/parents will use their Plano ISD Parent Portal login to access the Change of Learning Environment selection. A primary guardian/parent must complete this from for each student that you are requesting to change the learning environment. Videos demonstrating the Change of Learning Environment process are available in English and Spanish.
The next window to change a student's instructional environment is scheduled for November 30 - December 4, 2020 with changes effective January 6, 2021.

FACE COVERINGS-EXECUTIVE ORDER GA-29
Executive Order GA-29--regarding face coverings, applies to all UIL activities effective July 3, 2020. This includes the 2020-2021 school year. As the public health situation changes, and/or if subsequent Executive Orders are issued by Governor Greg Abbott, these guidelines may be further modified.
- For the purposes of this document, face coverings include non-medical grade disposable face masks, cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth), or full-face shields to protect eyes, nose and mouth. Face shields may be superior to cloth face coverings in many circumstances, given improved ability to see mouth movements and improved air circulation.
- All employees, parents, visitors and students ten years of age or older must wear face coverings or face shields upon entry to an area where UIL activities are being conducted and when not actively practicing or playing in the contest, unless an exception listed below applies.
- The face coverings requirements do not apply to a school in a county that meets the requirements of paragraph 11 of Executive Order GA-29, unless the local school system chooses to implement these requirements locally. Even in these circumstances, the wearing of face coverings or face shields is strongly encouraged.

Attendance at Sporting Events
Students and families,
We are excited to begin our athletic season this coming Friday, September 18th with our first Varsity volleyball home game. As everything else, things will look a little different at the games. Here is a list of things you should know before you attend:
· Tickets must be purchased online for the games. You can purchase tickets when you get to the game, but you will have to do so online. Our ticket taker will simply be scanning pre-purchased tickets at the door. add info about purchasing tickets here.
· There will be a limited number of seats to each event. We must comply with state health guidelines and UIL established protocols for UIL events. We encourage you to get tickets early to ensure you have a seat. Each different type of event (football game, volleyball game etc.) has a different max number. More details for football tickets will come out soon.
· Each person attending the game will be required to prescreen themselves and if they say yes to any of the questions, they will not be allowed to enter.
· Visitors must wear a mask at all times unless eating. Please help us with this to keep everyone safe. No one will be allowed to enter if they do not have a facemask.
· Every other row will be designated for no seating to establish social distancing. We ask that family groups sit together and that there be six feet of separation between each family group.
· For games at our gym, no visitor will be allowed to enter the gym floor. After games, families are encouraged to meet at their car or outside. They typical visiting after the game on the court will not be allowed to keep everyone safe.
Some things will remain the same however; here are some expectations for students and families that attend the games:
· We encourage our students to yell and cheer our teams on. Our focus should be on our teams and build them up and cheer them on to victory, not directed at the other team, players, or referees!
· Students are expected to keep feet off the railing at the football stadiums to prevent accidental falls.
· Students are expected to stay in the stands during sporting events in our gym. Students should have both feet in the stands. The first row of bleachers are not to be used.
Games will be live streamed. Subscription information is available at NFHS Network. Game information can be located by typing in your school name in the browse feature at the top of the page

Yearbook and Student ID's
Legacy Studios will be on the theatre stage (Building D) September 30th between 8:30am and 3:30pm to take yearbook and ID card photos for Juniors and Seniors. There will be no appointments .
These are makeup days. If your student took their picture in August they do not have to come again. However, students wanting to retake their picture are welcome to come.
• Senior yearbook photos will be “no touch.” This means that Seniors will be required to arrive for their photo-shoot already dressed in formal attire defined as a solid colored shirt and tie or a dressy sweater or blouse.
• Juniors will wear school appropriate clothing that they would wear on a regular school day.
• Students should refrain from the following: low cut blouses, thin strapped shirts, facial piercings, earrings or pendants larger than a quarter.
• Photographers will not be touching students to make adjustments. Each student can bring one person to check clothing, makeup, etc.
• Students, and those coming to assist them, will be required to wear a mask. It can be taken off for the pictures and then must be put right back on.
• These pictures are for the yearbook and ID cards only. Seniors will have to contact Legacy Studios to schedule other poses at a later date at the studio.
We want EVERY student to be included in the yearbook, so please make an appointment.
A Google form was sent earlier in the year to submit things to Yearbook/Newspaper and you can still use it, but Jostens also finally got our photo share site set up and it’s probably much more direct and easy to use! Thought I would share.
To use go to https://images.jostens.com/upload.jsp and put in our user code which is 415484164. Then anyone (parents/students/staff) can upload photos directly from their phone/computer to our Yearbook site.
The flyer image with the hyperlinked site is below. We’ve already had one parent use it with some football photos and it works great! If you can pass this along in any way, please feel free. Especially if you are a coach/sponsor and can forward it on to booster parents, that would be great! We know the booster parents already have photographers at everything so they are definitely a big part of our target audience. We’re going through the website now to find as many booster emails as we can, but any help would be appreciated!

Rycor--New System for Online Fee Payments:
The following information will be shared today with parents regarding the new system, Rycor, which replaces PayPams:
Plano ISD is using a new online payment system, Rycor. In an effort to reduce time, money and paper waste, and during this time of remote instruction, parents can pay their children’s school and lunch fees through a secure online website, https://www.studentquickpay.com/PISD.
If you are a parent who has multiple children at multiple schools, they will all appear together under your online payment parent account where parents can view assessed fees, see outstanding balances and pay for all of their children in a single transaction. Payments can be made by Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, MasterCard Debit, American Express, Discover and ACH Electronic Check.
Please note that there is a small convenience charge for using this system put in place to offset some of the costs of offering this service. For general information about fees, please contact your child’s school.
As a Plano ISD parent, you have the option to pay a number of mandatory and elective school fees online, as well as make payments to student lunch accounts. Our new online payment system is an easy and secure way to pay school fees from the comfort of your home or office.
