A Note from Mr. Strube
Dear TZ Family,
Welcome back to school for the 2015-2016 school year! I hope this summer has seen the perfect balance of rest and recreation for each of you. As the principal of Tzouanakis Intermediate School, it continues to be my sincere pleasure and honor to be a member of this great school community. TZ enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is the result of a collegial partnership between the school staff, parents, and community who provide a diversity of experiences for the students. During my first few years in the district, I have indeed found this close working relationship and focus upon what is best for children exist. I am looking forward to continue working with the dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students at Tzouanakis Intermediate School.
As a school administrator, my mission is to build and maintain a collaborative learning community where all stakeholders feel welcome, safe, respected as individuals, and an integral part of the learning process. I will maintain a comprehensive curriculum and high quality educational programs, which are supported by best practices. Along with my personal mission, I have embraced the core leadership values of trust, integrity, commitment, courage, communication, compassion, loyalty, and inspiration as necessary elements of a visionary leader.
Have a safe and exciting summer! We look forward to starting or continuing our journey together for the first day of school on Thursday, August 6, 2015.
Mr. Strube, Principal
Team Building Day: Let’s Band Together this Year!
On August 14th, all TZ students will participate in a team building day. The theme of this day is “Let’s Band Together this Year!” Each class will participate in team building activities and games that focus on communication, problem solving, cooperation, and empathy. This will be a fun way for students to get to know and feel comfortable with their classmates in preparation for weekly class meetings (part of our Olweus Anti-Bullying Program).
The team building activities will take place from 9:00 am to 2:15 pm, with lunch and recess occurring at the regular times. Some of the activities will be outdoors, so please make sure that your child wears sunscreen and dresses appropriately. If it rains, all activities will be moved indoors.
Volunteer in the Classroom or Field Trip--Need Background Check On File--Good for One Year
At TZ we appreciate parents/guardians that would like to volunteer to assist in the classrooms and/or go on field trips. As a part of any volunteer activity, we must have a cleared background check on file for each person wanting to assist here at school or accompany a class on a field trip.
I wanted to take time to clarify the limited/volunteer background checks. These background checks are free to our volunteers. A limited/volunteer background check is only good for one calendar year. If a volunteer wishes to continue volunteering after one year, they must submit a new application.
A link to the form that needs to be completed and turned in to the TZ office is below. You may also come by the school to complete the form. We do need to have a copy of your driver’s license to process the request.
Again, we appreciate your willingness to volunteer.
Mr. Strube
