Tiger Talk

So very thankful....
West Cypress Hills Elementary School is surrounded by a caring and supportive community. I feel greatly blessed every day seeing the learning resources that have been made available to our students through the kind and generous support of our families, our PTO, the Lake Travis Education Foundation, and our many community partners.
I feel greatly blessed to see so many wonderful volunteers on our campus. We have PTO providing fun events and fundraisers. We have WatchDOGS supporting our staff and students. We have volunteers helping with decorations and classroom projects. On behalf of all of our staff and students, I thank you. What you do makes a difference in the lives of our staff and students.
I feel greatly blessed to have such a fabulous, professional staff. I feel greatly blessed to have the opportunity to work with our Tigers and be the Principal of West Cypress Hills Elementary School.
Please accept my very best wishes to you all for a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.
With warmest regards,
Melanie Beninga
Principal, West Cypress Hills Elementary School

Thank you Lake Travis Education Foundation!!!!
A ceremonial BIG CHECK was presented to West Cypress Hills Elementary by the Lake Travis Education Foundation.
Our BIG CHECK will be used to support Tiger learning throughout the 2021-2022 school year.
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our Tigers by donating to the Lake Travis Education Foundation. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
I have a question about something I read in Tiger Talk...
As informative as our Tiger Talks are, there may be some lingering questions. Select the category your question falls in and be as detailed as you can in your question. Please use the link below.
Tigers Invited to Celebrate "Planks-giving" November 1 - November 30
Celebrate Happy "Planks-giving" with us!
Coaches Mirizzi and Clements invite all Tigers to give PLANKS and THANKS November 1 through November 30. Obtain your Planks-giving calendar here and print it so that your Tiger(s) can write on his/her/their calendar something or someone he/she is thankful for each day that your Tiger(s) complete that day's workout during the month of November.
Tigers are invited to return their completed Planks-giving calendars on December 1.
Happy Planks-giving!
Green Santa Donations May be Dropped Off Here Through November 29!
Help assist local families in need by donating a new, unwrapped gift for a Lake Travis child. Registered children range in age from infant to age 17. They are our neighbors, and together we can share the true spirit of community giving.
Requested gifts: Sports equipment, dolls, blocks, Legos, balls, puzzles/games, cars/trucks, gift cards, toddler toys, and arts/crafts supply kits.
Our donation box is located in the foyer of our front entrance. Thank you for helping us to help others.
Join the Tiger Reading Choice Board!
This semester our school is participating in a reading program called Reading Choice Board. The purpose of the Reading Choice Board is to encourage reading and to have students set personal reading goals. The program begins this week and ends Friday, December 10. For more information, please click here.
Thank you for supporting your child’s reading this year!

Come and Embrace the Noise! Apply to be On Team Tiger Today!
We are looking for more people to join our staff of caring professionals. Our campus-wide theme for this year is "Embrace the Noise," and we are seeking people, maybe like YOU, who would like to come and make some "noise" with us.
We are accepting applications for Instructional Special Education Aides and for a crossing guard. Prior experience is not required. The Lake Travis Independent School District happily provides training for its employees.
If you would like to learn more about the rewarding positions that we have available right here in your neighborhood school, click here.
Our Clinic Needs Clothes for Tigers!
Sometimes our Tigers are studying so hard that they find themselves in need of a change of undies and/or pants/shorts/warmups to finish out their day of learning. Nurse Chapman is prepared for emergencies--including those that require a change of clothes.
Nurse Chapman reports that she is running really low on new and gently used undies and shorts/pants/warmups in sizes smaller than size 8. If you have undies and/or bottoms in sizes 5T to size 7 that you'd like to donate to help restock Nurse Chapman's cupboard, please feel free to drop them off on any school day.
Thanks!
WCHE PTO is Bringing us Penguin Patch Holiday Shopping!
Tigers will love an opportunity to shop in secret for their loved ones who are on their shopping lists this holiday season. Our fabulous WCHE PTO is opening a Penguin Patch Holiday Shop on our campus so that Tigers can shop before school, during lunch, and recess. The shopping days are December 6 through December 10, and shopping hours are 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The Penguin Patch Holiday Shop offers affordable gifts that range in price from $0.25 to $12. There are personalized gifts for Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and even Teachers! The goal is to give our Tigers a shopping experience where they surprise friends and family with special presents.
Students may pay for purchases with cash, checks, and Venmo to the WCHE PTO. The PTO will send home parent letters to provide additional information along with budget envelopes.
More information from our WCHE PTO is forthcoming! HO HO HO
