TOP 10 CARDINAL CELEBRATIONS
2. Thanks to the Clinton Rotary Club for sponsoring the 3rd annual After-School Sports Camp for 60 Henry Elementary students. Students enjoyed participating in bowling, scooter races, soccer and basketball with Rotarians, as well as learning valuable life lessons from community members.
3. Our district nursing staff recently attended the Missouri Association of School Nurses Annual Spring Conference in Columbia, MO. Our nurses had the privilege to learn from physicians, lawyers and nurses regarding current topics in their field. This annual conference helps our nurses continue to keep our Cardinals healthy and safe.
4. The Clinton Golf Team placed 3rd in the WCC Conference Tournament this week. Congrats also to Austin Gillund for winning the 2018 WCC Conference Championship with a score of 72!
5. This week on Administrative Professionals Day, we celebrated our district's amazing, hard-working, multi-tasking experts....our building secretaries! These ladies are the first ones you will see when you enter our buildings, and definitely help our days run smoothly. We aren't sure what we would do without them! Go here to show your appreciation for these individuals!
6. The Girls On The Run spring session is coming to an end for Clinton Intermediate School students. For their Community Impact Project, students chose to give back to their school. Students helped clean the cafeteria chairs and left notes of encouragement to wish fellow students the best of luck on the upcoming MAP test.
7. Congratulations to CHS senior, Sadie Vernon, for receiving the honor of being named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.
8. Shout out to Clinton Intermediate School music teacher, Jaime Clodfelter and the 5th graders for a great music program this past week. Lots of hard work and creativity were put in by Mrs. Clodfelter and her students.
9. Congratulations to CHS senior, Emma Fonke who signed her National Letter of Intent with Southwest Baptist University to compete in Track and Field next year.
10. The 13th annual Father Daughter Ball was a huge success this past weekend. $5,093.00 was raised from this great event, and will benefit local organizations.

It's a Great Day to be a Cardinal
Henry Elementary Update
Submitted by: Sherri Swope, Henry Elementary Principal
Spring has sprung at Henry Elementary and students have been busy "giving back" through several service learning projects. Physical Education Teacher, Coach Johannsen and students raised $1,558 for the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart. Students also worked with Mike Murray, Administrator of Physician Clinics at GVMH to produce a training video for GVMH staff. A special thanks to CHS senior, Nathan Griffey for using his time and talent to record and edit the video.
The Class of 2031 began their journey as a Clinton Cardinal as they took part in kindergarten screening. 113 students are officially ready for kindergarten in August! If you missed the event, be sure to call the Henry Elementary office at 885-5585 to schedule a screening for your child.
Several times every month this school year, Mr. Wells and Mrs. Conner have been taking a group of students to Jefferson Gardens (an assisted living center). Through this project, students get a chance to interact with residents and play board games with them. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience for some of our students. Students have met veterans of foreign wars (WWII and Korea), former teachers, and many other people that have experience in a variety of trades/professions. The kids love the time they get to spend with the residents, and the residents enjoy getting a chance to share their stories and time with students. The residents know when the our students are coming to visit and many of them are waiting eagerly for them.
Staff member, Mr. Wells shared this experience, "One thing that has really stuck with me from this experience, is a resident we met who served aboard the USS Ommaney Bay when it was hit and sank. He shared his story with us and I knew then that these students may never get a chance to hear a story such as this. Most adults might remember first-hand accounts that their grandparents or family members shared with them about WWII, but this generation of students won't have that privilege. Most of them will never get a chance to meet a member of the “Greatest Generation,” which is a sad thought. That is why these trips are so valuable. This is truly something that these kids will never forget. It is vital that we provide young generations the opportunity to interact with our older generations and take the time to swap stories and hear first-hand information of the past."
