Definition- Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI)
Assessment
Once the first aid issues are addressed, then an assessment of the athlete's mental status can be made by athletic trainers, coaches, and sideline medical personnel
Symptoms
Headache, loss of memory, dizziness, delayed response, nausea, ringing of the ears, unconsciousness, etc.
Hospital/Field Treatment
Field: take them out of the game!
Hospital: Doctors will assess the damage, if mild you are sent home to rest. If thought to be severe a MRI may be required to see any bleeding and trauma damage. Can be kept over night for watch.

Prevention
- Wear the appropriate equipment for your sport and wear it properly. (headbands, mouth guards, and helmets)
- Learn and use proper technique for your sport
- Play by the rules.
