TDS Update
Math teachers:
Check out this website for examples of DOK math problems to help prepare your students for ILEARN. http://www.openmiddle.com/
Humanities:
As we are getting into second semester, don't forget to utilize the Humanities novels that were bought for the students using parents' consumable money. Remember, every child will go home with a book at the end of the year. If you would like to use a book for instructional use, feel free to annotate within the book if you have already worked it out with your colleagues. Thanks!
Best non-fiction books of 2018 List!
A good visual for the role of the teacher during inquiry.
Service Learning Trip
Remember that there are many lesson plan/trip plans in GENERATION ON once you decide with students what the focus will be! There is a new folder for GO items on the share drive.

Support Groups through Community Health Begin onThursday, January 24
- The groups will be facilitated by Ben, of the Icart staff, that responded to the tragedy in our building
- They will be free
- They would begin after Winter Break
- They will be short term, right now scheduled for four weeks and may be extended depending on the group.
EMPOWER!!
Keep in mind the six truths mentioned in Empower as you continue your reading. It could be an interesting self-assessment to journal your thoughts on these truths before getting too far into the book and then once again after completion of the book and our small group discussions.
Six Truths that drive Empower and 'ultimately drive our thinking on the need for empowering our learners':
- Every child deserves to own their learning. Teach can empower students ownership of lifelong learning.
- Every child in your class is someone else's whole world. Empowering students transforms our social/human connections.
- Stories will always shape us. They will always help us learn. Empower students to create and share their learning stories.
- The only thing you can prepare students for is un unpredictable world.
- Literacy is about learning, and learning is about unlearning & relearning.
- As teachers, we have a huge impact on our students' lives. Empowering our students amplifies that impact.
