The Teaching Profession

Roles and Responsibilities

Teaching is a Career!

The teaching profession is perhaps the most underrated career in the workplace. Misconceptions and stereotypes are abundant.Contrary to most opinions, the teaching profession is one of the most daunting (but also rewarding, and amazing) challenges one can face. Here are two responsibilities you will need to fulfill, but no one will ask you:

1. LISTEN- You make think that's your students' job, and you are right, but it is just as important for you to listen to them. You can learn so much from your students.

2. LEARN- Just because you're in the front of the classroom doesn't mean you have to stop learning! Take classes, go to conferences, or even eat lunch with a veteran teacher and swap ideas. Never stop learning. You want to set an example for the kids in your class!

Make Goals

It's important to keep yourself accountable. I set goals for my self every school year. I don't ever want to feel like I'm stalling out. Here are some of the goals I set for myself this year:

1. Be proactive with parents.

2. Encourage my coworkers.

3. Try to make a more reasonable line between work and home.
