Please have your children here by 6:00 p.m.
Can't wait to see you all!
A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! ‘Tis the season to be Jolly! Christmas trees are up. Stockings are hung. Christmas crafts are in the making. The students are working hard during rehearsals for their Christmas program. And, parties are being planned. The Christmas season is definitely here at Burleson Elementary.
With Christmas break literally around the corner, that means the end of our first semester is coming quickly. I am so proud of the students and staff who continue to work hard each day. I know everyone is excitedly waiting for December 20th to get here, but they know there is still some business to take care of. That is exactly what they all are doing, and I couldn’t be prouder.
I am so excited to watch our PK-4th students perform in the Christmas program Mrs. Estrada and the students have worked on the last couple of months. Parents and friends are invited to watch the performance on Thursday, December 16th at 6:30pm in the Carpet Gym. I hope to see all of you there!
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Math/Science
In math we are learning how to add the sum of unit fractions to find how much of the whole we are shading.
Please make sure your child is practicing their math facts each night.
Math fact tests are on Fridays.
In science we are finishing up our lessons on gravity and magnetism.
Hello fellow 3rd grade readers,
For the past two weeks we have been learning all about the genre of drama. The genre of drama consists of many elements. These elements include characters, actors, acts, scenes, scripts, dialogue, playwright, and much more. This week we looked over different examples of drama pieces. We identified each element by highlighting and coding in different colors. This helped students visualize and relate drama to different fiction texts.
In phonics we learned about the continental ‘a.’ In simpler words the letter a makes the short ‘o’ sound when it is before or followed by certain letters. The vowel digraphs au and aw both make the short ‘o’ sound. For example the word haul and claw. Another spelling rule we looked at is if the letter a comes before the letter ‘l’ it makes a short ‘o’ sound. This week's spelling words review the different spelling rules of continental ‘a.’ Remember to study and complete nightly homework.
In language arts, we have been working on adverbs and adjectives and how we can use describing words to make our writing more interesting. We also went over how to correctly add suffixes to words that are ending in ‘y.’
In social studies, we are starting my favorite unit. Christmas Around The World!
This week we made our passports, suitcases, and made a list of what we needed to pack.
Remember:
It is very important that your child is at school everyday on time
Spelling tests are every Friday
Please be sure to read with your child for at least 20 minutes a night
Thank you for all you do,
Temple Reinhart
4TH GRADE
Reminders…
- Students need to read their library book EVERY night. We have been unproductive in our AR tests. It is their homework every night to get this done, especially over the three day weekends.
- I know there is a lot of sickness going around, please let me and the office know if your child will be out.
- Our Christmas party will be on Dec 20th. More information will be going home soon.
- Spelling tests will resume after the holiday break.
Thank you for all you do! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Jenna Wesley
Recordatorios…

4th & 5th Grade Math
-Fractions have invaded 4th grade and 5th grade Math. On some days, it does feel like they are attacking us. This is one of our more difficult chapters. This is when it is very important for our students to know their multiplication math facts. If they do not know their math facts, they struggle to find equivalent fractions or being able to simplify them. In a few days we will be adding and subtracting fractions and need to know math facts to find common denominators.
-So, please have your student practice multiplication math facts every night for 10 to 20 minutes. It will make a world of difference.
Thank you for your support,
Stacy Gamez
5TH GRADE
5th grade ELAR & Social Studies:
We have been working through our Elements of Drama for the past few days and will continue to work on this subject for a few weeks! We have a lot of fun learning that will take place over the next few weeks, and I cannot wait to keep up the hard work we've been doing throughout the rest of the semester! Your students have been putting in the effort, and it is showing through their grasp of our content! We do have our Interim testing scheduled for next week, so it is vital your child is at school every day, so they are actively involved in learning the content.
In Social Studies, we are learning all about the different colonies and we are about to break up with Britain! The students have been working hard and enjoying this content.
Reminders:
Please be sure your child is reading every night for at least 20 minutes! I have a lot of students who have the same library book from a few weeks back. By 5th grade, students are expected to be able to read a chapter book within a week or two if they are reading at home. We have definitely been slacking in this area, and I would like to see us improve here.
The spelling test will be next Thursday! This will be over Unit 17. Please study the spelling words with your child every night as well.
All missing work or corrections need to be turned into me as soon as possible. Please check with your child if they have anything missing from me, or if they have corrections they need to complete.
If your child will be absent, please let me and Mrs. Sandy know!
Thank you,
Mrs. Rasco
Sandy! Gracias, señora rasco
