Our School's Mission
Our School's Why
Dear LWSH Families and Caregivers,
Greetings LWSH Families, Caregivers, and Scholars,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! We are excited to welcome our scholars back to school from winter break on Tuesday, January 10th! All scholars, including juniors and seniors will report to the LW Main Campus as the MetroHealth Campus will be closed.
As our scholars return, we want to make sure that every child is maximizing the opportunities being offered here at Lincoln-West School of Science and Health. We currently have our Trio Upward Bound Program which is a year-round pre-college program for CMSD high school students. It is designed to assist students in graduating from high school, entering and graduating from college. Upward Bound works in cooperation with the schools, Tri-C, and the community to provide educational opportunities and support to achieve these goals. Students who enroll in our Trio Upward Bound Program will receive weekly tutoring in academic subjects; preparation for Ohio Graduation and college admissions tests; support in submitting college applications and FAFSAs; a monthly stipend; 24/7 access to Varsity Tutors; and so much more! Speak to your child and encourage them to register today!!!
We also offer tutoring through our OST and Study Skills Boot Camp provided by our community partners Esperanza. This program is offered after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm in room 215. To register for this opportunity, please scan the QR Code in the flyer below. Tutoring may also be accessed through CMSD's live online tutoring program provided by CMSD teachers in reading and English Language Arts, math, science and social studies from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Additionally, tutoring will be available to students in 6th through 12th grades 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through TutorMe. You will need your child’s CMSD email address to register. For more information regarding CMSD's tutoring program, email or call Cassandra Anderson at cassandra.anderson@clevelandmetroschools.org or 216-304-1408.
Lastly, all LWSH scholars in grades 9 and 10 will have access to IXL which is a personalized learning system that focuses on math, language arts, and science. This program has proven to accelerate student achievement using a comprehensive curriculum, actionable analytics, real-time diagnostics; and personalized guidance that will meet the unique need of every learner. Your child's teacher will utilize this tool to give students opportunities to engage in independent practice in subjects they struggle with the most. You child will also be able to access the program from home to practice anytime! With this new program and our current Academic Achievement Plan (AAP) strategies, we are confident that we will increase the achievement level of our individual scholars and our school as a whole!
Although we have these wonderful opportunities, it does not hold any value if scholars do not participate or are not in school regularly to gain the benefits. Therefore, we are encouraging all families to work together and with the school to ensure your scholar is attending school every day. Get 2 School...You Can Make It!!! As always, we appreciate your partnership to educate the whole child. For questions or feedback, please feel free to call the school at 216-838-7100.
Sincerely,
Juliet King
Your Proud LWSH Principal
