A Note About Madison...
A Quick Recap Of Our Learning!
Reading Workshop: This week we will be learning how 4th grade readers "level up" their thinking by synthesizing information as they read & also by taking a more in depth look at characters in the book to really understand their "why."
Math: We will continue to work on place value skills through the millions. Many students need practice lining up numbers to add/subtract and also check to avoid accuracy errors.
Up Next: Unit 2 multiplication strategies
Think Central is our digital learning platform & students can show you their scores from in class/homework on their dashboard (they know how to do this) The expectation is that they are showing their work on their iPad or on paper to show if needed. The program provides instant feedback to students and allows us to intervene with them to specifically target a skill that needs attention.
Writing: Last week students were asked to commit to a story line for Monday! We are learning how writers choose what to write and more importantly, how to grow a problem to keep readers interested!
WtW: Sorting routines begin this week! Be on the look out for your child's sort pattern to come home on Monday afternoon! If you can, please peek at your child's sort pattern to help point out words that follow the pattern throughout the week.
S.S. The next part of our government unit is learning about the bill to law process. Students will be coming up with an idea in the next week that they could support and see as a needed addition to our state. Stay tuned!
