High School Highlights
AUGUST 28TH, 2020
FROM THE DESK OF MR. HASTY
Discipleship, Excellence, and Integrity.
If you have spent any amount of time at SBA or taken a tour, you have heard these words mentioned as pillars of our Academy. For over a decade, these words have signified the character traits we seek to model and build into our students. These words are hallmarks in our school and symbolize our shared values as an institution.
From time to time, it is healthy for all of us to be reminded of things that have not changed and will not change. For us at SBA, Discipleship, Excellence, and Integrity will remain foundational to our approach in educating the whole child.
One of the other things that hasn't changed is our faculty and staff's investment in the lives of your children! Even amid COVID-19 and all of our world's changes, they consistently build into each student on our campus. They are amazing!
If and when you get a chance, will you join me in thanking them? Take the time to send them an encouraging email, speak to them when you're on campus, lift them up in a meaningful way. These days have been challenging for all of us, and each of us needs a little encouragement now and then.
We love your family, and especially your child! Our favorite part about being Silverdale is the students we interact with every day! Thank you for trusting us to partner with you in their upbringing. It is our privilege to play a part in equipping your child to flourish after high school!
See you on campus!

CANVAS INSTRUCTIONS
Student Dashboard - open a browser and type students.silverdaleba.org or click on the "For Students" link at the bottom of our public page www.silverdaleba.org
- We have been shocked at how many students don't know this exists
- Here you will find ALL links for summer and school year information
BITS for Students (Student Help Desk) - From the Student Dashboard, they can click on Student Technology - BITS for the Student Help Desk where they can find ALL the instructions they need. This includes: Canvas, Gmail, Google Apps, WiFi, student printing and much more. Parents have their own Help Desk linked from the Parent Dashboard.
Canvas Login Instructions - Students have had several weeks and 4 school days to get their Canvas account and password straight, however many still struggle (parents too). Canvas help and login links below:
Student Email (silverdaleba.org) - If your child has an SBA email account, instructions for connecting to it can be found Here. Instructions are straightforward and easy to put on your SmartBoard for him/her to follow.
CELEBRATION GUIDELINES
We all love to celebrate milestones whether it is a teacher's birthday or even our child's. These moments are precious and breathe life into our souls. We certainly understand the importance of doing so, but we need to make you aware of some slight modifications to these events due to the ever-changing COVID environment.
- There can be no "cakes" (if it is to be shared with the class) or even "cupcakes" unless they are pre-packaged and/or individually wrapped
- Any chips or snacks will need to be single serve size only
- Any drinks will need to be single serve only (i.e. Juice boxes, bottled water, etc.)
- Due to our current Yellow Phase, all parents will need to let their specific school know the date and time that they will be visiting campus. Visitors in classrooms are very limited and must be screened through the Ascend platform and vetted through the specific school. We understand that this is a new procedure but we are trying to minimize the spread of the virus and keep us on campus. If you have questions, please reach out to us. There are no wrong questions. Please, if you need more clarification on any "party" that you are planning, let us know.
We appreciate you and your partnership with us. Soak in each moment of every day that the Lord has given you.

2) Attending athletic events on campus:
There are a few things we wanted you to know before attending an athletic event. The TSSAA has put in place several protocols we must follow. All fans must be masked and have their temperature checked before entering. Physical distancing guidelines must be followed at all times. The more we adhere to these protocols, the safer our event will be, and helps protect our athletes, coaches, officials and of course you, our fans!
One of the other protocols listed by the TSSAA, as well as our local health officials, is a limit on fan attendance. While those limits vary based upon the facility, we are doing everything we can to maximize the number of fans who can attend each game safely. In order to keep an accurate count and allow our parents/families first access to tickets, we have partnered with Eventbrite to allow for contactless ticket purchases for most events.
To complete your purchase:
Follow this link to see Silverdale home athletic events that will require tickets
Sign up for an Eventbrite account
You can then purchase General Admission tickets up until 3 hours before an event.
Tickets will be available 72 hours before an event and will close 3 hours before scheduled start time.
If you are a 1999 Club member or SBA staff, you will be sent a code that will allow you to claim tickets separate from the General Admission ticket.
If you are unable to purchase a ticket in advance, a limited number of tickets will be available at the gate on a first come, first serve basis.
Please contact athletics if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you next week!
