Wimmer's Weekly
English IV, Yearbook, & Writing Skills/Technical Writing
Week 20 (January 22-26)
Hello everyone! I am sorry I am getting this to you in the middle of the as opposed to the beginning...I was out on Monday for an orthodontist appointment.
Room 115 will be quite busy for the remainder of the week. I will be caught up on grading and all grades from the last few weeks will be in Gradebook by the end of the day on Thursday.
As always, please feel free to let me know if you have any concerns or questions.
English IV
This week in English IV, student will take their exam over Elizabethan (Renaissance) Poetry, which includes pastoral poetry and sonnets. This test is schedule for Thursday, January 25th. On Friday, the students will participate in a class sonnet writing activity, which lead to them writing their own 14 line poem in iambic pentameter (due next Monday).
Yearbook
Our next deadline is fast approaching! Staff members are working everyday on their spreads, photos, and interviews and they are doing a great job.
Writing Skills/Technical Writing
Last week, students spent their time in Room 115 taking a diagnostic STAAR test. This helps me develop an appropriate curriculum for this class-everyone here needs something different, but benefits from instruction about the test as a whole. From the data I gathered from the diagnostic test, I have decided to spend this week discussing the writing part of the STAAR test. We will work on pre-writing, rough drafting, and expository/persuasive format.
