"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us." Hebrews 12:1
RUN THE RACE - Spiritual Theme for 2017-18
What is the RACE that God has set before you?
Why do we need a “cloud of witnesses” or spiritual heroes in our lives?
What do we need to "put aside" so we can run our RACE?
For some of us, the race set before us is to finish high school. For others, the race is to build relationships around us. For all of us, part of the race is to grow in our relationship with God. God knew that we would need spiritual heroes who come along side us as a "cloud of witnesses" to propel us on in our race. From the spiritual heroes of the Bible listed in Hebrews 11 to the spiritual heroes that God has placed in our lives today like parents, pastors, teachers, etc., God uses them to help encourage us in our race.
One such example can be found in Team Hoyt, who knew the race they had to tackle. There were certainly the literal races that this father-son duo participated in, but they also tackled a much bigger race - to find purpose and meaning in life in spite of physical limitations and to support each other in the process. Please watch the video that we showed in chapel if you have a chance.
I am so looking forward to continuing to explore this theme that I believe God has given the Upper School for the upcoming year. Please let us know if we can do anything for you!
