Each Smore will have activities that meet a multitude of interests and personalities. You can choose to participate in one, many, or all of the challenges. Be sure to share some of your work on our monthly Padlet. That will allow us to learn from and be inspired by other amazing students.

Quote:

"Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face." -Victor Hugo

Quote Challenges:

  1. Create a visual that represents the meaning of the quote.
  2. Write the quote in your own words.

Snowball by Shel Silverstein

I made a snowball

As perfect as could be.

I thought I'd keep it as a pet

And let it sleep with me.

I made it some pajamas

And a pillow for its head.

Then last night it ran away

But first--it wet the bed.

Poetry Fun

  • Try memorizing the poem.
  • Can you create a comic strip for the cartoon?
  • Could you create a board game or write code (Scratch or Hopscotch) for a game inspired by this poem?
  • What is something silly that you could have as a pet? Would it last? Can you write a poem about your 'pet'?

Visual Thinking with Origami

Share some pictures of your finished origami on Padlet. You can even take it a step further and create a comic, story, song, or poem about your finished origami.

Science Fun: Snowflakes

We don't have a lot of opportunity to see snowflakes, so let's make our own. All you need is Borax (found at HEB) and water. Click on the link below to learn how to create your own Borax snowflake.

Programming Fun: AgentCubes

Are you interested in learning how to build a fun 3D game? Well, then AgentCubes is right up your alley. Click on the site below and see what you can learn about the world of coding and 3D design. If you enjoy Minecraft, check AgentCubes out!

Don't Be Shy. Share, Share, Share.

Padlet is a website that can be accessed on ANY device and is a terrific way for us to share work with others.

You can add pictures, video, links, and text to Padlet. So, you can video your work, take an image, or just write about what you have done.

Students can also use their NEISD Google Credentials and use their Google Drive to create work. That link can also be shared on Padlet. If your child needs help accessing their NEISD Google Account, please email me. I will be happy to help them get it up and running. If your child does create a Google presentation to share on Padlet, be sure that they make the link AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WITH THE LINK so that others can enjoy their work.

Be SAFE: First Names only, never share last names on any work you post.
