Unified Basketball at WMS
Weld RE-4 School District is thrilled to announce that Windsor Middle School has paired with Special Olympics to launch a Unified Basketball program this year. We are looking for interested students/families!!
Unified Sports is an inclusive sports program that unites Special Olympic athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities or special education needs) and partners (individuals without disabilities or special education needs) as teammates for training and competition.
Here is a link to a great video highlighting the power of Unified Sports.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUCqqr8Yh2c
The WMS Unified Basketball season will run February through March. We plan to play unified teams from around Northern Colorado.
We will practice, or have a game, two afternoons a week. Practice will be from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, typically Mondays and Fridays at the Windsor Recreation Center.
If you have a student with autism, down syndrome, a brain injury, cerebral palsy, or is supported by special education services at school, we want your student to join our team as an athlete!!
We also are working to recruit students as partners for the team. If your student would be interested, please let us know!!
Our goal is to promote social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. NO basketball experience required!! If your student might be interested in joining our team as an athlete or a partner, please contact me, Nicole Maas, Unified Sports Coach and School Nurse for Weld Re-4.
Thanks,

8th Grade Dedication Ads - Due February 1st
It's hard to believe that in a few short months, your student's stay at Windsor Middle School will be coming to an end. We are doing our best to put together a yearbook that will capture those memorable moments of their 8th grade year. However, try as we might, there is no way for us to express how proud you are of your son/daughter at this milestone in their lives.
But that doesn't mean that you can't tell them yourself. Proud Parents/Guardians can purchase space in the back of the yearbook to place a personal ad expressing your feelings.
All you need to do is simply go online to www.community.pictavo.com click Shop My School then enter Windsor Middle School. You will be able to purchase and design your ad here. Please make sure you SUBMIT the ad or it will not be published.

Night of the Stars youth talent show through Windsor Recreation
I’m reaching out to you to let you and your students know that the Night of the Stars youth talent show is back by popular demand! Last year’s first show was such a success and we’re excited to see the talents this year! K-12 youth can dazzle in this local talent show that will be held on Sunday, January 27th through the categories of Music, Variety, and Voice. The winners from our Windsor local competition will have the chance to compete with youth from other cities in the state competition.
Information packets are available online at windsorgov.com/stars and at the Windsor Community Recreation Center Front Desk.
One difference to note from last year’s process: since there was so much interest, this year there will be auditions held for the local competition participation. The auditions will be held Tuesday, January 22nd from 4-8pm at the Windsor CRC.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
