Northside Summer School Scoop
Monday, June 7 - Friday, July 2: 7:30am-2:25pm
Welcome to Middle School Summer School for Plaza & Congress!
Arrival: Students may enter the building at 7:15am, and we use a SINGLE LANE system in the mornings.
The building will open at 7:10 AM for our teachers. We ask that all students be dropped off in the front of the school along the sidewalk closest to the building using one lane only. Please do not use the passing lane for drop off due to safety reasons. To keep the line moving, please make sure students are ready with all of their belongings when time to exit the vehicle, as well as right turns only on NW 72nd Street. In addition, we ask that you do not drop your student off before 7:15 am. To provide efficiency & safety of our drop off/pick up line, we ask that you do not park in the lower lot or the Kmart lot to drop off/pick up your student.
Bus transportation information will be emailed to guardians the week before school begins. During enrollment for summer school, you were able to select a stop for your student. Please call Kay Burnos at First Student if you have any questions regarding bus transportation. 816-359-4560
Dismissal: We begin at 2:25 and use a DOUBLE LANE system for parent pick-up in the afternoons.
Dismissal Procedures (double lane): Please do not arrive any earlier than 2:20 pm. This is to ensure that our buses can gain access to our parking lot.
*YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARK AND HAVE YOUR STUDENT WALK TO YOU. IF YOU ARE PICKING YOUR STUDENT UP YOU MUST GO THROUGH THE CAR LINE*
• Please post the students name you are picking up in the windshield of your car.
• Parents will need to pull into either lane 1 (closest to the building) or lane 2 (outside of lane 1).
• Students will be held in the small gym by team to maintain social distancing within their own teams
• Students will come out as we call them to load 8 vehicles at a time (4 in lane 1 and 4 in lane 2)
• Once all 8 vehicles are loaded, we will release starting with lane 2 and then lane 1
• We will then repeat the process until all students have been picked up
Please remember to ensure a quick pick up, no left turns are to be made on NW 72nd St. To provide efficiency & safety of our drop off/pick up line, we ask that you do not park in the lower lot or the Kmart lot to drop off/pick up your student. For safety, all car rider students will be held in the gym and will not be released until they are picked up.

Supplies and First Day
Students need to bring a notebook, a writing utensil, and a water bottle. They may carry backpacks with them. Students in 7th and 8th grade need to bring their school-issued laptops. Incoming 6th graders and those joining us from outside the district will be issued laptops on the second day. Those students riding the bus must wear a mask. Masks are optional for students but strongly recommended.
Staff members will be at car drop-off and at bus arrival to guide students to our gyms in the first day for schedule pick-up and lanyard/student ID's. We won't let them get lost!

Mask Changes for the Summer:
Throughout this pandemic, we promised to monitor the data and to follow the direction of our local health officials. The data tells us that cases are now low in our community and in our schools. Our local health departments have dropped their mask mandates for fully vaccinated people.
Starting with the summer, we will make some changes to our mask requirements. Please see the district website for the details.
