The Falcon Flyer
Start of School Edition
Dear Foothills Families,
Thank you so much for all your help with registering your students for the upcoming school year! With the new Infinite Campus(iCampus) SIS program I know it took some patience and perseverance for some of you and we appreciate you taking the time to go through that process.
For those families that have registered for At School Learning you will be able to go back into your iCampus Parent Portal the week of August 10th and see your child's teacher.
I would also like to thank the many families that have been able to pay the $25 donation fee for their students. We use these funds to purchase student supplies, books, and to provide special grade level events. If you haven't been able to pay the fee yet you can go into your Parent Portal and do so online, or stop by the school and pay in the office with cash or check. We truly appreciate your donations and support of our students and teachers!
In the rest of this newsletter you can find information on:

Enjoy the last few weeks of your summer! Stay healthy and safe and I can't wait to see all you soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Stoddard
Foothills Elementary Principal
Foothills Elementary Open House- Tuesday, August 18th
We are so excited to welcome students back at our Back to School Open House on Tuesday, August 18th from 12:00-5:00pm. This allows students to come and briefly meet the teacher and find their desk so that anxiety will be reduced for the first day of school. At our Open House you will have the chance to purchase a Foothills T-shirt and sign up to help our wonderful PTO with school activities throughout the year.
Please plan to come during your assigned time. The schedule below (by last name) is designed to keep everyone safe AND to practice social distancing. If your scheduled time is not possible, please contact your child's teacher for instructions.
Face Coverings Required. This is just a reminder the Governor has mandated face coverings be worn in all schools by students, staff, and parents. Also, if you are sick or someone in your household is sick, please do not come to the school.

Foothills Fall 2020 Schedule
"For the fall 2020 semester, all five days of the week (M-F) will follow the traditional Monday Early Out schedule where schools dismiss 45-minutes earlier than the typical day. A decision will be made by early December whether to continue this schedule for the remainder of the year."
Grades 1-6 will go from 9:00-2:30 Monday-Friday
AM Kindergarten will go from 9:00-11:15 Monday-Friday
PM Kindergarten will go from 12:15-2:30 Monday-Friday
Here are some of the reasons for our shortened daily schedule:
Additional teacher time to meet the needs of students who cannot attend because of quarantine or illness.
Greater opportunities for schools to provide additional support to students who are struggling academically or emotionally.
Additional custodial time to clean and sanitize our classrooms and buildings.
Increased flexibility in the requirement for in-seat “instruction” time recently granted by the State Board.
"... we believe this adjusted schedule will be helpful in providing safer and more supportive environments for our teachers, students, and families." -Superintendent Nielsen
Reopening School in the Fall- COVID 19 Updates
I have kept the the following information here for you for easy access to review the school district's plan. For current information you can also visit Nebo's COVID-19 Web Page listed below.
Face Coverings- Just a reminder that when students arrive at school they must wear a face covering in the halls when they arrive and at the end of the day when they depart. They will also be wearing a face covering in the classrooms and hallways when social distancing is not possible. They will NOT need to wear their face covering at lunch, recess, or PE class. We have also purchased face shields for each student, faculty, and staff member. The face shields will stay at school to be sanitized daily. At school, students can choose to wear their face mask, the face shield, or both.
Before/After School Programs- All before and after school programs have been postponed for the Fall Semester. So, for now, there will be no Choir, Fiddlers, Chess, or Ballroom. Mrs. Lowe will be teaching an elementary ballroom class through Salem City and more information will be coming on that shortly.
Water Bottles- To keep students healthy and safe, hallway and classroom water fountains are not accessible at this time. We are encouraging students to bring a water bottle to school with them and the teachers will have a few times during the day when water bottles will be filled up with the classroom faucet.
If you have any questions related to health and safety this school year, please don't hesitate to email or call Mrs. Stoddard and she would be happy to help.
Welcome Kindergartners!
Please make sure if you haven't uploaded your child's birth certificate, immunizations, and proof of residency into iCampus that you get that done very soon so we can complete their registration.
