FINAL FRIENDS OF REED FUNDRAISING UPDATE
Thanks to the 114 families who donated this year, Annual Giving raised a total of $42,345! In addition to the murals and other beautification already funded this year, FoR presented a $25,000 check to Reed this past week to support the purchase of all new classroom furniture for the B building!
Academy Fundraising raised $20,131 this year! A check for $25,000 was presented to Reed this week to be placed in the Academy Trust Accounts. Money will be distributed based on a percentage basis of academy enrollment for next year. This money is available to teachers to purchase equipment and supplies that will enrich their academy’s mission.
Thank you for your support!
DRESS CODE UPDATE
Please note the dress code updates are now listed on the Reed website!
Plus, some other clarifications...
* Leggings, shorts, or compression shorts may be worn under a skirt or short if they are navy blue, khaki, or black.
* Shorts/pants/skirts must be a solid dress code color - navy blue, khaki, or black (no stripes)
* Sweaters/sweatshirts/hoodies are permitted in any color, but must not contain inappropriate content like drugs, alcohol, swear words, anything disrespectful, etc.
* If a student wears something not in compliance, they will be asked to wear a loaner uniform and they will be given a dress code compliance form to be signed by parent. If it is multiple offenses, a parent call / conference will be scheduled.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Battle of the Books is a fun reading program for students in 6-8th grades. Students read books and come together in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. Next year’s list is in. You can start reading now! There will be a local Battle (in March) and send the top 4 teams to the regional Battle (in April). The Battle is held after school and students enjoy pizza and treats for participating. There is usually also a book exchange, and top teams win medals. It is open to ALL STUDENTS who wish to participate!
You can download the list attached AND you can use the cool link Ms. Carroll (the librarian at Louis Armstrong MS) made below. It has links to SORA and HOOPLA.
