Art Announcement

Look What’s Coming…..A creative opportunity to support our school and your child through the Original Works program. Ms. Benitez is working hard to ensure that all students will have an artwork entry in order to participate in this artistic awesomeness!! All artwork should be submitted to the Art Teacher, Ms. Benitez, by October 16th. Your child may pick up an Original Works approved paper (paper used must meet certain guidelines) in the Art room. Please do not use oil pastels, glitter, abrasives (salt/sand), scratch art or construction paper. Please do use bright colors, water color, pencil, markers, or colored pencils. The bolder the color, the better the print will come out on the OW merchandise. For more information visit www.originalworks.com/parents, or feel free to email Ms. Benitez @ebenitez@sjalakeland.org.

Conferences

Thank you to all parents who were able to join us for Parent Teacher Conferences last week. We strongly believe that the parents are the primary educators of their children. The opportunity to meet with you only strengthens our collaboration in educating your children. If you missed your Parent Teacher Conference, or still have questions and would like more time with a teacher, please do not hesitate to contact the teacher to schedule another opportunity to meet.

October is the month of the Rosary. Throughout the month, we pray the Rosary every morning. We invite you to join us for our Living Rosary on October 15 at 2:15pm in the Courtyard. We will dedicate our Living Rosary to the recovery and good health of our beloved principal, Mrs. Bruchey.

Parent Code of Conduct

Parents are reminded of the Parent Code of Conduct issued by the Diocese of Orlando effective August 1, 2019. By sending your child(ren) to a Catholic school in the Diocese of Orlando, parents agree to abide by the policies contained within. The Parent Code of Conduct can be found within the Parent Student Handbook on the school website (sjalakeland.org) under Resources. Over the next several weeks, we will be reviewing policies contained within the Parent Code of Conduct. We thank you for your adherence to these diocesan policies.

Under no circumstances approach/contact another student to address, discuss or reprimand them because of actions towards your own child/ren. These issues should be addressed by school administration. This includes the use of digital/social media to address or air grievances.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed on Friday, October 11 at 3:15 for an hour or two to assist with organizing prizes for our Fall Festival. Please sign in at the front office. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours.

Wear Pink for Breast Cancer

On Friday, October 25, students are invited to donate $1 and wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Funds raised from this dress down day will go to the John Paul II Medical Research Institute.

Sponsor a Police Officer

The Diocese of Orlando allows school administrators to hire off-duty police officers for special events where there may be high volumes of people or when we are present on property at night, etc. I take the safety and security of all those on our campus very seriously and have made the decision to hire an officer to be present for our Halloween Dance and our Fall Festival. The cost of the police officer is $31 per hour. If you would like to sponsor the police officer for the entire event or even just for an hour during the event, please call Mrs. Dyer in the front office.

Halloween Dance: 4 hours @ $31 per hour is $124 total

Fall Festival: 5 hours @$31 per hour is $155 total

I will continue to secure off-duty police officers for activities or events that I deem necessary.

Donations Needed for Fall Festival

Families are asked to donate drinks for our Fall Festival. We will only be accepting Coca Cola products. Individual served cans or bottles are appreciated. Remember that you earn one volunteer hour for every $10 spent on donations for the school. Be sure to log your donation of drinks on your White Envelope.

Kindergarten and 1st grade: Diet Coke

2nd and 3rd Grades: Regular Coke

4th and 5th Grades: Sprite
