We Need Your Input!

Final Exam Schedule

All students in all classes will have a final exam. Final exams will be December 17th and 18th. Both of the days are half-days of school for the high school students. We will dismiss car riders and drivers at 11:20 AM. We will then dismiss bus riders at 11:45 AM. We will serve breakfast and lunch on these days for those students who want to eat.


December 17th will be exams for periods 1 and 2.

December 18th will be exams for periods 3 and 5.


No check-outs are permitted during exam time. We thank you for your cooperation!

Basketball Highlights

December 18th, the Trojan Nation will head to James Clemens High School! Varsity Boys will tip off at 7:30 PM; Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys at 6:00 PM, and Junior Varsity Teams at 4:30 PM. Also, take a look at the upcoming Huntsville Times Class Tournament Bracket.

Cheer Clinic

HG Basketball will be hosting a Cheer Clinic. Attached is the info sheet. If you're interested fill it out. Hope to see some of your little ones there!

Bowling Highlights

The Boy Bowling Team picked up two more victories in our tri-match last night at Pin Palace. 9-6 over Scottsboro and 8-7 over Lee in a 10th frame comeback to win! Loud and Proud, Trojan Nation!

HGHS Track Team Toy Drive

The Hazel Green Track and Field Team will be conducting a Toy Drive for children in the Hazel Green Community. Please bring new unwrapped toys to Coach Morrow's room N210 no later than December 18th. Please help brighten someone's Christmas. The Track and Field team will host a pancake breakfast on December 19th from 7:30 -9:30 AM. Tickets are $5.00. Please see a member of the track team for tickets. All outdoor team members will need to see Coach Morrow for tickets.

Christmas Break

We will dismiss from school for Christmas Break on December 21st and will return January 6, 2016. Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and have a happy New Year!

100 Black Men of America

College Counts School

You must have an ACT score of 26 or below Minimum GPA of 2.75. For more information or to apply, visit CollegeCountsAlabama.com. Application opens January 4th and the deadline is April 22nd.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority scholarship is available to African American high school seniors. Scholarship deadline is January 15th. Scholarship applications are available at www.dsthuntsville.org For questions, please send an email to the scholarship committee at dsthsvscholar@gmail.com

Eta Phi Beta Sorority: Alpha Omega Chapter

This scholarship is for needy female prospective college students.Deadline for this scholarship is January 31st. A recent photograph is required with the application. Contact is Lois Thompson at 256-859-3816.

Huntsville/Madison County Auburn Club Scholarship

The deadline to register for the Auburn Club Scholarship is March 1st postmarked. This application is available to download at www.huntsvilleauburnclub.com

Alabama Association of School Office Personnel Scholarship

Last year, the Alabama Association of School Office Personnel awarded four (4) $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a degree from a college of business or K-12 education. The deadline for application is March 1st. For more information call 334-289-1670 or email jroemen@dcsedu.com.

Alabama Homemakers Scholarship

The deadline for the Alabama Homemakers Scholarship is April 1st. Alabama Homemakers and Community Leaders offers a $1000 scholarship to high school senior living in the state of Alabama pursuing a degree in Family and Consumer Science or one of the Human Sciences. Application available in Guidance Career Center, area file box.

Madison County Homemakers and Community Leaders

This scholarship is being offered to any Madison County, the State of Alabama graduating senior and will be based on financial need, leadership/service, character and scholastic ability. The award amount will be $500.00 and will be sent directly to the college or university to which the senior has been accepted and enrolled. The deadline for the Madison County Homemakers and Community Leaders is April 1st. If you have questions call Laura Byrd at 256-829-1853 or visit Madison County Homemakers for an application.

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.


Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors will receive a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit http://www.actstudent.org/onlineprep/.


First Priority/FCS
meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Black Box Theatre. All students are welcome to attend.


Parenting Assistance Line:
PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.


Recycle:
Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.


Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.


Loyalty Reward Tags:
(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag, just stop by the main office to pick one up.
