Teach. Learn. Care
A Word from Mr. Mowen
One important day each week is what we call "High Five Friday". Every Friday, every student gets the greeting of their choice whether its a high five, a fist bump, or something else of their choosing. It is a day that both staff and students look forward to each week. It is a great way to help build a positive school culture and let each student know how much we care about them.

Academic Tip of the Month
Reflex Math is a new Math resource we have available for grades 2-5. It is a program thats help students improve their fact fluency through games that the students enjoy playing. Your student already has a log in and has used it multiple times at school. If they don't remember their log in or password, then you can email their teacher to get it. The goal is for them to play long enough to get the green light.

We have seen some really strong gains already from students using Reflex Math. Fact Fluency is the foundation for all math. Students will have more success in math by building this strong foundation. Most importantly, the students love using this program.
Bad Weather Protocol
- The district will send out information regarding any snow days/late starts/early dismissals because of the weather. It will not come specifically from Northside. The district uses School Messenger, TV, and Radio to inform families about these decisions.
- There will be no morning preschool on days when we have a 2 hour late start. Afternoon preschool will continue as normal on late start days.
- In case of a 2 hour late start, Northside will open its doors at 9:30 AM. School will start at 10:00 AM on those days.
- In case of an early dismissal, bus riders will be released 1st at the assigned dismissal time. Car riders will be released 2nd, approximately 5 minutes after the assigned dismissal time. Walkers will be released last, approximately 8 minutes after the assigned dismissal time.
Nurses Corner
- If the "feels like" temperature is 10 degrees or warmer we will be outside for recess.
- If a student would like to play in the snow (off the blacktop), then they must have snow pants and boots.
- It is important that students have a hat, gloves, boots, snow pants etc each day at school.
Parent Shout Outs
- Karie Freeman - For giving up your time to help out in the school in a variety of ways. It is greatly appreciated.
- Lisa Pogue - For taking the lead on exploring ways to get new playground equipment for Northside.
- All the parents who attended the Halloween Parade. Students were very excited to show off their costumes.
- Everyone who was able to attend our 1st ever Student of the Month Breakfast. We are proud of our students and appreciate the support in honoring our students.
- One observation from morning car duty that has stood out to me is the number of you that encourage your child to have a great day as you drop them off in the morning. A simple: I love you, have a great day, do your best, etc sets the tone for your child to have a terrific day.
Student of the Month Breakfast
One special way to recognize our students of the month is by hosting our Quarterly Student of the Month breakfast. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate with families the accomplishments of our students of the month from that quarter. Below is a picture of our first ever Student of the Month Breakfast. We have awesome students and are excited to celebrate their accomplishments.
