A Message from Our Principal
Please see inspirational message from out superintendent. I am so thankful to work in such a caring district and with so many dedicated, loving staff members at Mashburn. Thank you all very much for working so hard to make sure we continue to grow, you ALL make the difference.
Thanks,
Carla
Good afternoon:
Congratulations on our very positive CCRPI scores!! I know you and your teams are reviewing the data to make informed decisions about how we continue to improve our schools individually and our district collectively.
Last week while I attending a conference in Chicago, I was reminded of the following:
- The importance of joy in our schools. Let’s all work to find ways to make school joyful for our students and staff.
- The importance of SEL. Schools and school systems see an increase of up to 11% in student achievement when SEL is implemented with fidelity….11%!!!!! Wellness and mindfulness are critically important components to our work. Always remember…happy schools make for happy employees. Happy employees make for happy children. Happy children make for happy parents. Finally, children who are happy, joyful and truly enjoy school perform better. It’s all connected. What did you do today to bring joy to your students and staff?
- Is our data important? Yes, of course
- Should we use data to drive instruction? Yes, of course
- Are assessments important? Yes, they matter
- Does a positive culture and climate have a positive correlation with teacher and student performance? 100% YES!!!
Continue to do what’s best for kids and adults every day. If so, our results will continue to be very positive and we will continue to improve. I’m very proud of our work. We are either getting better or getting worse, there is no such thing as status quo. Putting joy in our work will help us get better.
Sincerely,
Jeff

NEW Public Calendar Procedures
New Calendar Instructions:
Please read the new calendar directions for Public Calendars very carefully because there is one step that has changed. When searching for a calendar, search MES. After you have found the public calendar, it will be saved to your shared calendars. Out of habit, most people are trying to put appointments on the calendars using the old method of double clicking the date which will not work. You will get a message stating you do not have permissions to edit the calendar.
Instead, you must click on New Meeting—New Meeting for All.
Page 2 is what describes the new method for making appointments:

We are off to a great start to Quarter 2, I have heard some great discussion from students about working towards a behavioral goal! Great job!
Remember another round of postcards need to go home by November 9th.
Here are Helpful Tier 1-2 interventions for Behavior:
Classroom misbehavior can reduce time on task and student learning. This intervention can help reinforce positive behaviors.
Reflection Sheets We learn from reflecting on experiences, good and bad. A Reflection Sheet is a very effective tool to use when a student is displaying unacceptable or acceptable behaviors and can be used in conjunction with the Class Rules. The sheets can be used to help correct undesired behaviors or, alternatively, to reinforce those students following the rules and exhibiting expected and desired behaviors.
