You Make the World More Beautiful!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week
Happy School Nurse Appreciation Day on Tuesday May 12th
We are going to support students in a bit of a new transition process this year. For many students the incredible supports for all students are providing a beautiful bridge to their transition. Our process is going to focus on meetings that support our some and few.
Supporting students across grade level transitions is a pivotal way that we are able to honor a student’s current school experience and share in their new transition. This is an opportunity to lift a student’s voice and choice, while celebrating their educational experience.
We know that our school-based context shifts drastically between grade levels and buildings. This is a moment for us to presume competence, as we cannot predict if a student’s experience will be similar or dissimilar as they transition to their new grade level and/or building. This is a moment to celebrate our students strengths, their incredible growth and our time with them.
The purpose of grade level transition meeting is to collaboratively prepare a student for a transition and to bring forward student strengths and strategies.
Check out this site, book mark it and help us add resources to support our colleagues. This site walks us through our Guiding Principles, Procedural Guidance, Preparing for Meetings, Holding Meetings and Resources.
Expanded and Recovery Learning Options
We recognize that this unprecedented pandemic has had a significant impact on all of our families, students, staff and community. We also recognize that the impact has been felt in a variety of ways by each student and family. We know that in-person instruction is a powerful tool for students. We remain committed to getting all students back to full time in-person instruction. We believe all students can benefit, but our current space constraints mean that only a small number of students can move to 5 days a week through the Expanded and Recovery Learning Options (ERLO) process. Please collaborate with your building principal to learn more about your building's ERLO committee.
The purpose of ERLO is to provide optional expanded and/or recovery learning opportunities for select students who demonstrate an exceptional need that additional time on-site or with instructors could address. ERLO services may be addressed by the following strategies:
Learning is expanded by coming on-site more days than their A/B schedule and joining the other cohort of the same class OR
Developing an individualized additional support plan (such as more focused on-line or in-person support to complete a for credit class)
Student’s may be brought to the ERLO committee for consideration by teacher recommendation or parent request. The ERLO Committee will look at the individual student need through the following lenses:
Students who are unable to access the distance learning component of the hybrid schedule
Students who are experiencing significant academic progress concerns (may include IEP goals, ELD progress, HS credit progress, etc)
Students who are experiencing significant mental health concerns
Paperwork Reminders
If you have any students who have moved in during the year, please complete the move-in paperwork. Our Handbook includes a step-by-step process for supporting a move-in student's IEP.
Double Check!
Take a look at your caseload in ePEP. Are you serving any students who are NOT included on your caseload in ePEP? Work together with your IC to consider next steps if the student is a move-in student or has other paperwork necessary.
June Count
Every year you prepare with such tenacity for our December Special Education Count to ODE. We have a count in June, as well. This year with the end of the school year shifting we need to have all IEP meetings held by June 11th to complete our June Count. Please plan to wrap up all IEP meetings by June 11th.
