Message from the Principal
Dear Hornet Families,
What a great Week 28! Thank you to all the families for being on time and bringing in scholars for face to face instruction! This week, we bring in more of our Green Zone scholars and start Online Registration for 3 Year Olds and PK. If you have a child in these grades, be sure to sign up at this website starting on April 12, 2021. It will be a first come first serve. We will host our PK at Horizon Heights ES. Our 3 Year Olds will register with us yet attend at Mission Ridge ES due to lack of space.
Online Registration is Open: starting April 12, 2021.

- We are in the Green Zone for this week at SISD, as determined each Wednesday.
- With our Green Zone families coming in for face to face, we will be at approximately 320 students in the building.
As we begin Week 27, let's keep in mind some of these topics
Laptops/iPads
Please take care of the devices. Have your children restart their computer each day. This allows for TEAMS to function better. Clean your devices daily to stay healthy. Charges for chargers, $25. Charges for device damage, $40. Be kind to your device!
Small Group Support
If your child is struggling academically, please communicate with your teacher about small group support. Teachers offer small group support Monday through Thursday. They are willing to work with children to help them reach their reading and math goals.
Virtual PE
Due to the large number of students in face to face instruction, we will use our Coaches for the scholars receiving face to face instruction. Our remote learners will have access to the Virtual PE lessons daily. To access the code, teachers will place it in the chat and it will also be on our school webpage, under the PE tab. Our Coaches will support the face to face learners as they transition to and from PE, while serving them with daily PE activities.
Flexible Fridays
Flexible Friday is back. We will begin instruction promptly at 7:30 AM. Teachers will focus on Math, Reading and Writing until 10:30 AM. We will host announcements at 10:35 AM. Students will then work asynchronously in their classrooms with their teachers support as the teachers plan with the grade level. Yes, due to coding as a face to face learner, you will need to be in attendance all day on Friday.
The important things are:
- scholars on face to face instruction continue to come to school
- instruction will begin promptly at 7:30 AM and be offered through 10:30 AM
- morning announcements will be at 10:35 AM
- lunch time will be minimized to 30 minutes
Saturday Tutoring.
Thank you to all the families that joined us for Saturday Learning Camp. We had well over 130 scholars that participated and made the choice to be the BEST version of themselves! I was proud to see how many scholars attended and stayed focused to improve!

SEL Lesson.
This week our scholars will be learning about 100% Commitment. Students will learn how to set personal and academic goals. Scholars will learn to make promises into reality.
