Developmental Screenings
Parent educators will begin developmental screenings this month.
Prior to your child's screening, your parent educator will give you a short list of materials to gather. These will be used to complete your child(ren)'s screening(s) virtually. All of these materials are typically found in the home. If there is something on the list that you don't have (such as blocks or a ball) contact your parent educator. They can help brainstorm alternate items in the home you can use. You do not have to purchase anything to complete this screening.

Pizza and Picky eaters Presentation
When serving veggies and fruits to babies, toddlers and young eaters - think color!
(From the blog on Feedinglittles.com)
We recently featured various veggies and fruits of all the colors of the rainbow on our Instagram account. Our followers asked us to compile the charts into one printable document...so here it is!
A few things to keep in mind:
- We have divided the foods into babies and toddlers.
- The serving suggestions provided are simply ideas and do not describe every way to serve these foods; they're just a few ideas to consider.
- When oils or spices are mentioned, they're just to get you thinking about how to flavor veggies and fruits. There's nothing age-specific about the oils or spices used; they are OK as of 6+ months. We recommend limiting salt in infancy, but herbs/spices are encouraged because they help babies and toddlers learn about new flavors. Our favorite oils include olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, butter and ghee.
- Hard foods like apples and carrots are choking hazards. Make sure to modify these foods until your child is 4.
- Some of these foods may not be available year-round. Choose seasonal produce when you can - they will be more tasty and more affordable

Book Nook
October is also fire prevention month. Books can be a great way to introduce serious topics like fire safety!
Below are a few of our favorite books to look for at the library or online. (Click on the covers for information on the author).
Can't make it to the library? That's okay! There are plenty of read-a-louds online as well that you can enjoy at home. Check out a few that we found below!
