If you would like classroom iPads this year, please speak to Lara to see what is available.
Please return parent Kajeet requests to Lara as soon as you receive them. As of right now, we only have 10 available, and the remaining parents will be placed on a waiting list. Kajeet forms are here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-HdtT4g01xudSlSX5omOYG_Vwbb76wru/view
As new students are enrolled, they will need to visit Lara in the library to be assigned a Chromebook. If students loose cases, chargers, or headphones, Lara will enter those online and provide replacements.

Dyslexia Screenings Update
Elementary Principals: please see detailed information below for dyslexia screenings to pass along to your faculty. I will reiterate the information with elementary special education teachers. Thanks, Brady
· The following students are exempt from screening:
o MAP-A students
o Students with an educational identification of Intellectual Disability
o Students with an educational identification of Hearing Impaired or Visually Impaired
o Students with a known medical diagnosis of dyslexia
o ELL students who have been in the United States for less than a year
· Additional information for Special Education Teachers:
o The student’s accommodations for district assessments still apply.
o If as the case manager/SPED teacher, you are responsible for administering district assessments for a student, you can find the resources for DRA, RAN, and the Spelling Inventory by grade level here
o Rosters in the Data Portal match e-school rosters, so if a student is on your e-school roster for Reading, you will be responsible for entering their screening data into the data portal. Directions for data entry can be found here
o Our screening process will identify students with characteristics of dyslexia, but please remember we do not identify/diagnose dyslexia specifically. Students who exhibit these characteristics may eventually be referred for a 504 plan or for a special education evaluation, which may result in an identification of a specific learning disability.
· Additional information regarding students in ELL programs:
o ELL Students who are not exempt should be screened according to district procedures by their homeroom teachers
· Links to SPS Activate presentations with video examples of administering screeners:
· Comprehensive guidance from DESE for screening/serving students with dyslexia can be found here.
Please reach out to our Special Services Literacy Interventionist Amanda McCaleb at almccaleb@spsmail.org with questions.
