2017 Science Fair
Gayman Elementary will be holding its 2017 Science Fair on February 23, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. This year’s theme is Hands-On Science. We are anxious to see what projects our students will create this year. Please encourage your child(ren) to participate in this year’s fair. There is no judgement or contest, only participation, creativity, and fun! Students may work alone or in groups. Groups may be classmates, siblings, or friends, and it’s great to work with children from other grade levels, too.
If you are interested in participating, please click here to read through the information packet. The last 2 pages include the Contract and Special Considerations form. Please print, sign, and return both of these to your child’s teacher by Tuesday, January 10th. Each child participating needs a contract signed by a parent. If you prefer a hard copy of the packet, please ask your child’s teacher to send one home.
Look for more information in future Gayman Gazettes as well as on the Science Fair page of the Gayman website. Reminders will also come home through the Thursday folder. If you have any questions, please ask.
We are looking forward to an exciting evening!

Parent Positive Series - Understanding Childhood Brain Development: How to Unlock Potential
Parent Positive is proud to welcome Dr. Jay Stone, PsyD to our parent speaker series. Dr. Stone will be presenting on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 PM in the Lenape Middle School Auditorium. His talk will focus on:
Understanding Childhood Brain Development: How to Unlock Potential.
Join James J. Stone, PsyD, Doylestown Health neuropsychologist, to learn tools and strategies to help nurture and maximize your child’s potential. The presentation is designed to help parents understand how their child’s brain processes information at different ages, how skill sets evolve developmentally, and how to translate that knowledge into appropriate expectations of their child. Parents will leave with strategies to empower their child to complete tasks at hand, and an understanding of when to encourage them to try on their own, and when to step in and help.
Registration for this free event is encouraged but not required.
Babysitting is available for children in grades K - 6 and will be provided by CB High School National Honor Society and Key Club students. Drop-off for babysitting will begin at 6:30pm and pick-up will immediately follow the program. Please share the ages of children for which you would like to have babysitting. If babysitting service is needed, pre-registration is required.
This program is part of the Parent Positive Speaker Series, a collaboration among Doylestown Health, CB Cares, the CB School District, and the CB Family YMCA

Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
January #9. Service To Others. Young person values service to others, in their family, school, or community. He/she commits to meaningful and caring actions. Boomerang nominations may be emailed to Suzanne Vass at svass@cbsd.org, or printed out and sent into the office.
