This year WMHD is on October 10 and is an opportunity for community education and engagement to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and to connect to the global movement to ensure our communities have access to mental health supports when they are needed.
Join us for our weekly speaker series at howardcenter.org.

Family Volunteers Needed for STEM Competition!
Looking for a STEM Enrichment activity to do at home?
Essex High School has received a grant that can help students enter a robotics competition from home. The sponsoring organization is called FIRST. The competition will potentially be held in the early spring at CVU and if not in person, there is an online way of competing too. Our division is called First Tech Challenge and an animation of this year’s competition rules shows you what the robot could potentially do.
We are looking for families interested in organizing building and programming sessions in their homes. We can potentially field 2 teams in a small circle of 2 or 3 families at most each. One family should be able to host meetings of these small circles of students and adults. Your coach will be Joe Chase, an award-winning teacher who has been coaching robotics teams for over 15 years and will be available to Zoom into your meetings for advice and to help organize. There will be little expense to families as the grant has already purchased the supplies teams will need.
If you are interested, please email Mr. Chase at jchase@ewsd.org
Virtual Coffee House

There will be an open mic night for all EHS students on Oct 16 from 7-9 p.m..

Scholars' Bowl
Scholars' Bowl is on-line this season- both in practices and in our statewide competition. If you are good at trivia and have a quick recall of facts in all academic subjects, then THIS IS FOR YOU! We have practices twice a week, with competitions taking place throughout the school year, playing for a state title in the spring. If interested, contact Mr. Rome (drome@ewsd.org) to sign up or get more information.
