Week of February 1, 2021
Happy Sunday Leaders!
We celebrated the 100th Day of School on Tuesday and enjoyed seeing our Leaders dressed as 100 year olds. We are looking forward to February and spreading LOVE across our campus and out into the community. For Valentines this year, our students will be making cards and candy bags for frontline healthcare workers with a special message of appreciation. We are asking parents to send in bags of individually wrapped candy to help with this project. Please have candy donations in by Friday, February 5th.
Our Student Lighthouse Team, will be selling Valentine-grams. Order forms will be sent home with students on Thursday. Student leaders will be collecting orders on Friday, February 5- February 7th. All proceeds will go towards helping them reach their goal of purchasing outdoor basketball goals for our playground.
This week we will also be celebrating School Counselor Week. If you see Ms. Bullock on campus this week, let her know how much we appreciate her for all she does for us here at Silverdale.

Expectations for Remote Learning At Home
On days that students are at home working remotely, they will work on independent practice of taught concepts with the use of manipulatives and materials provided. Students will complete computer-based programs and remote assignments. Teachers (not necessarily assigned teacher) may post pre-recorded lessons to review or supplement instruction provided during face-to-face sessions and/or introduce additional content. Students do not have to login by a certain time each day. The expectation is for them to view the content posted, complete the work assigned, and turn in to the teacher on the due date. They will also be responsible for completing and turning in work to each ENCORE teacher. As long as students are turning in work, they are counted present. If a student is NOT completing their assigned work on a specific day that it is due, they will be marked absent unless the parent makes contact with the teacher.
On Wednesdays, students are engaged in remote instructional activities (2-3 hours K-2; 3-4 hours 3-5) based upon age/appropriateness. Students participate in an online “Live” meeting with the teacher and students from Cohorts A and B. Engagement in whole class and/or small group lessons with teacher and students from Cohort A and B. Teacher will also have office hours on Wednesdays to help answer questions or to provide additional support to students. If students cannot participate in the “Live” meetings, they can watch the video later and complete the work assigned. All work will need to be turned in by the assigned due date.
To help families with remote learning at home, we have created a campus wide remote learning schedule. Remote learning assignments for students can be found on all teachers’ websites under the tab-Remote Learning Schedules. From there you will be able to click on the week and a calendar at a glance will load to help you know which assignments are due and when, the time of scheduled “LIVE” sessions, and teacher office hours. The calendars will also contain live links for Wednesdays and other links students may need to use for instruction.
Students did to be up and out of bed and dressed appropriately when participating in LIVE session on Wednesdays. Please help your child to limit distractions by not allowing the family pet or younger siblings to participate or allowing them to eat during this time. Also, other members of the household need to be dressed appropriately when walking in front of the computer's camera.
If your child needs support at home, please reach out to their teacher. Teachers will respond to your message within 24 hours. Our teachers are working tirelessly to serve our students. Please be respectful of their time before and after school when they are at home with their families.
