March 8th, 2023, Spring Break Edition
Enjoy your break!
Students will return to campus on Monday, March 20th for the sprint to the finish line.
The last nine weeks in a middle school is always challenging - students are very comfortable and they love to push boundries. Talk to your students about making good decisions - and let's finish the school year strong!
Interested in trying out for the Lago Vista High School Valkyries?
Mrs. Phillips will be on the LVMS campus on Wednesday, March 22nd to meet with any/all 8th graders during Advisory. Any student wanting to learn more about the Valkyries or interested in trying out should attend this meeting.
Please contact Director Wendy Phillips if you have any questions at:

Booster Club Update- Spring Sports
IMPORTANT UPDATES regarding Concessions for Spring 2023: The new turf fields for both baseball and softball have been completed and our players and coaches are enjoying the new fields! If you haven't had a chance to get a good look at them yet, we invite our Viking families to come out for the evening and catch a game or at least a couple innings! Baseball and softball each have their own concession stands and they actually have the best view of the field!!

The football field is still under construction as they're in the final stages of installing the new turf which will be utilized for both football and soccer play! The ice storm pushed the construction schedule back a couple weeks so our LVHS soccer teams will continue playing at Sisemore Field (located at LVMS) for the remainder of the season. Once the turf field has been completed, work on the field event areas will begin along with resurfacing of the track. With that being said, Lago Vista will not be hosting any high school or middle school track meets for the 2023 season. So many of us parents look forward to our home T&F meets but it's important to remember that with growth comes change - new facilities and better equipment! We're so proud to be a part of Viking Nation and support our student athletes. GO VIKINGS!!

Tennis Courts: Construction of the new tennis courts will start later in the Spring/Summer and will be ready for the Fall season. There will be 4 lit courts and seating for spectators.
For those families who have not fulfilled their volunteer hours, there's still plenty of time to sign up and help out with Spring sports! The Booster Club recognizes that all of us parents are multitasking and most families typically have several children participating in different sports. We want to ensure that each family has the opportunity to sign up whether it be for a JV game, Varsity game or tournament that's played over the weekend. We're always needing additional volunteers to help in concessions!
Notes From The Office
If you are going to drop off anything for your student, it can only be for your student. Please don't bring Starbucks for friends, pizza for friends, etc. The main reason is safety - food allergies are not something we talk regularly about, but the consequences are extremely serious. Any food deliveries will only be given during the student's lunch hour.
Also, if possible, please pick up your students up BEFORE their lunchtime and Athletic/PE periods. It takes a long time for your student to get back up from Athletics, Lunch or PE, so please help us with that.
Finally - we are running short on Kleenex! If you would like to donate any Kleenex, please bring them by the front office. Thank you!
Absences - If your child is absent due to illness/doctor appointments, please remember to send a note to excuse your child. You may send an email with a note or a copy of the doc note to - tharkins@lagovistaisd.net in a timely manner.
Construction Update
This is from Coach Phillips, LVISD Athletic Director -
With the Track getting resurfaced, bleacher renovation etc., the stadium will be off limits for the next two weeks. Please do not plan on coming down to field level until after spring break.
STADIUM CLOSED MARCH 4th-19th
Please do not drive down the black top that takes you to the scoreboard end of the field until further notice. Very large machinery will be working in that area in the coming months.
News From Nurse Carmichael...
For all my families who need specialized diets, this is a wonderful new tool
I found from FARE.
FARE is the site most used by families with allergy concerns but this new tool
helps anyone looking for help choosing the foods that are right for them.
(Vegan, Gluten free, Keto, FODMAP, Mediterranean, you name it... Also what
foods to avoid if on certain medications.)
While it does promote foods by certain manufacturers, it is very instructive
in general as you learn about foods that fit and foods that don't. You still need
to be a careful label reader.
Click here for the website and have fun exploring!
