Math Updates:
Happy New Year! It is 2020 and we are getting close to see how much growth the students have made this current marking period. Please see the testing updates below!
This week, we are going to meeting with the intermediate teachers for Collaborative Planning. We are going to focus on session on Formative Assessments and how we can use the data to drive instruction.
We are also going to be visiting math classrooms this week. We look forward to seeing you and your students in action!
If you need anything, please reach out to the math team. We are here to support you! Thank you for all that you do!
Reading Updates:
Happy New Year!
As we begin 2020, think about making a resolution that could improve your literacy instruction such as:
Use the sound system during IRA to increase student engagement.
Allow students to have a choice of their next GR book. (Show 2 different books and majority rules.)
Use the updated Diagnostic Focus Checklist to determine what reading behaviors your students need to master in order to move to the next level.
Thank you for all you do to grow our readers. Your literacy team is here to support you.January 2th-31st- Kindergarten F&P window
January 6th-31st- Read With Me Challenge
January 8th- Collaborative Planning Primary Reading
Social & Emotional Updates:
Welcome back and Happy New Year. It was great to see all of the students come in, excited to be back at school last week. Please remember that we are teachers and take time to teach, reteach, reteach, reteach. If you expect a certain behavior, teach it. We will have the County-wide team out this month to complete the mid-year TFI. This is a measurement of our PBIS system. This is a benchmark, and will help us know what to work on going forward. We will also be scheduling with the county-wide team to do an RP walkthrough. Remember that our foundation is DAILY community circles. Please keep doing them every day after arrival.
Have a great week!

From the Principal's Desk
We had an awesome 2019. We saw the following highlights:
1. PARCC Language Arts and Math Scores increased. We led the County in growth in L/A and 2nd in Math. Job well done..
2. We closed the gap with with our ESSA Houses. We are a TSI School for five areas of improvement. We closed the gap to 2 houses of improvement. More details to follow..
3. Our enrollment is increasing and our population is becoming more diverse. Your work with relationship building shows everyday. I am proud of our accomplishments.
High performing schools celebrate success, but they are also focused on continued growth and improvement. In 2020, I want us to focus on the following:
1. Close the ESSA House with 2 Houses ( Attendance and ESOL)
2. Improve number of students who read on or above grade level
3. Increase the number of students who earn proficient/70% or better on County Benchmarks.
In closing, never forget small and inexpensive experiences. Thursday Morning Casey, Tracy and Laurie created a "red carpet" experience. As students entered and walked to the steps, Casey and Kim greeted students and told them the "red carpet" was for them. The "red carpet experience" was five red table clothes from the Dollar Store. ( 5$ created so much joy)The red carpet was for our students and for you. Let's enjoy 2020 together and continue our work.
P.S. Exercise Self-Care, please take care of yourself.
