2017 Referendum Election:
Guest Speaker: Dr. Matt Hillmann, ED.D., Superintendent
On November 7, 2017, Northfield Public Schools residents will be asked to vote on two important election questions. The first question will revoke the current operating levy of $1,497.17 and replace it with an operating levy increased by $470.15 to $1,967.32 per student for 10 years with an inflationary factor included. The second question, contingent on the passage of the first question, would authorize the District to sell $109 million in bonds to be paid for over 25 years for the purpose of implementing the Master Facilities Plan.

Follow up...
School Supply Boxes: Coordinator: Chris Feldman
Our vendor had trouble filling their orders and getting them delivered by the requested delivery date. Some schools didn't receive them at all. Chris has been in contact with the vendor to get the kinks all worked out, and to tie up any loose ends. Thank you Chris for all your work on School Supply Boxes, and for dealing with our vendor to get them here!
First Day Coffee: Coordinator: Pasha Quaas
The first annual "First Day Coffee" has received positive feedback! Big Thanks to Pasha Quaas for organizing this fun event, to Molly Lloyd for supplying the yummy treats, and to Goodbye Blue Monday Coffeehouse for donating the coffee!
PTO Fall Family Picnic:
The Fall Family Picnic was held on Thursday, September 21st
It was well-attended by more than 70 people who beat the heat and enjoyed chatting while the kids had fun on the playground!
Sibley Companeros Garage Sale:
The Sibley Companeros Garage Sale was held on Saturday, September 23rd. All money goes to support the Sibley Companeros Amity Intern Program! We will follow up with them and share what we learn about their event in the November minutes.
Treasurer's Report: Jessica Heilman
Over the summer things haven't changed too much.
- $60 came in from Amazon Smile and $250 from the Trash 2 Cash program.
- Brain POP went up $100 for the current school year. Brain POP provides educational video clips on all kinds of topics that are specific to grade level and language. PTO covers the cost of this service annually.
- PTO gave $200 to each of Sibley's 25 teachers and 6 specialists for them to help with supplies and classroom needs.
- How to spend the Walk-A-Thon money? Teachers are being asked to share their wants and needs to help create a list. The discussion has been opened to spend some of the monies in support of Celebrate Math Week. A parent poll will be created. Giving them an opportunity to share their thoughts. In the past we have used Walk-A-Thon money for big ticket items. Now the district has taken over support of some of these items.
