KES Update

February 24, 2021

February is flying by! The sun is shining and we are enjoying outdoor recess! Thank you for your support in the successful transition back to our All-in Model. It has been so refreshing to see our in-person students here each day, hear their voices, and feel the positive energy they exude. I am happy to report that the drop off/pick up process is improving each day. We would like to ask you to remain in your car in the pick-up line at the end of the day instead of getting out and waiting by the building. If you must get out of your car to pick up your child, please be sure to wear a mask and safely distance while you wait. The students are doing a great job waiting for their car and following the lead of the staff members. Our main goal is safety! Finally, I want to share that we are really excited about our live morning announcements. Thanks to Mr. Lasecki and the 5th grade Hornets, our in-person and virtual students are able to access the morning announcements live each day!

Important Dates and Information

  • February 26 and March 26 - Kirtland staff vaccination dates - Asynchronous learning days for students (no in-person classes those days). Students are expected to complete assignments posted by their teachers. Look for more specific information to come.
  • It is time to order your child's KES yearbook! Please check the yearbook flyer that came home to order online at www.inter-state.com/yearbook using code #55777H, or you can send the order form and payment of $18 to the office here at school. Checks should be made payable to Inter-State Studio & Publishing Co. Orders must be placed by March 5, 2021.
  • KES JUST RUN spring session will be open for registration in March! This year our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are invited to join the JUST RUN training team to run outside on the Kirtland track during the morning in April and May. The Lake County JUST RUN 5k race is planned for Saturday, May 29, 2021 in person. As expected, there are some changes to JUST RUN for 2021, however we hope to see some of our very talented runners in grades 3-5 returning to run with Coach Van Arnhem, Coach Morris, Coach MacGillis, and Coach Nagaj this spring. Stay tuned!”
  • On Tuesdays in March, we will be wearing GREEN to celebrate being hard-working Hornets!

Kindness at KES

We are focussing on KINDNESS here at KES. We have a suggested kindness act each day. In addition to that, each classroom has a KINDNESS wall where we showcase random acts of kindness.
