Principal's Message
Dear Edison Families,
Edison Bobcat's impressive math scores put them on course for a run at the national stage of mathematics excellence. Of the 10 students in OMSD this year who qualified for the finals of Mathcon, 5 were Edison Bobcats, and another 3 qualified as alternates! MathCON is a national mathematics competition slated for May 1, 2021 where only students who score in the top 90% of all 4th-12th grade students qualify for finals. Since 2008, more than 200,000 students across the country have participated. Congratulations to all of our Bobcats, their families and teachers -- Let’s go!

We are thrilled to be transitioning to in-person instruction with students in the coming weeks! As a result of the case rate for COVID-19 in our area continuing to fall, we have moved into the Orange Tier of California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy allowing us to begin blended in-person instruction starting April 19 for all grades. You can read more about the Orange Tier criteria and our eligibility to move in Dr. Hammond’s latest update.
As we transition to reopening campus for in-person blended learning, we want to communicate some important procedures and protocols we will follow with students on campus. Thank you in advance for taking a few moments to carefully review the information included here to prepare for this transition to blended learning. Especially important are the arrival and dismissal procedures this year.
Once again, I cannot thank you enough for the kind words of encouragement and support as we prepare for the final months of school. Like so many of you, we are eager to make the transition to blended learning, while still continuing to offer online learning options and prioritizing the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff, and community. We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus–both in-person and online and we’ll do it -- #edisonstrong #together
Sincerely,
Mr. Lopez
Bobcats of the Week
Virtual Assembly (National Theater for Children)
We have scheduled a “National Theater for Children” livestream event for our students on water conservation, for Friday, April 16, 2021. Your child’s teacher will post the classes viewing time and link, and your child will be able to join the assembly by simply clicking the live stream link.
As you know, this is occurring during our teacher prep week, in anticipation of a return to blended learning, so students will have the option of watching the assembly under your supervision. Although the event will be happening “live,” all participant interaction will be between the viewer and the theater personnel who manage the chat and relay questions to the performers.
We are excited to offer this virtual experience for our students who have in the past enjoyed performances from this theater group in-person. If you miss your scheduled live performance you will be able to access the recorded show by using the same link until Mid-June 2021. We hope you enjoy “Showdown at Dry Gulch”
