What are the symptoms?

The symptoms are:
  • Headache
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Red eyes, face or tongue
  • Red eyes, face or tongue
  • Fever

How is it transmitted?

Yellow fever is transmitted by:

  • The bite of infected mosquitoes
  • Mosquitoes from monkeys
  • People who were infected in the jungle or savannah.

Where in the world is Yellow Fever found?

It's found in parts of


  • Africa
  • South America

What is the incubation period of Yellow Fever?

  • 3–6 days
  • The first, "acute", phase usually causes fever, muscle pain with prominent backache, headache
  • Most patients improve and their symptoms disappear after 3 to 4 days.

How to prevent Yellow Fever

  • Get a vaccine
  • Avoid unnecessary outdoor activity when mosquitoes are most active
  • Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when you go into mosquito-infested areas.
