MMS News & Notes
September 8, 2023
From the Principal
MMS Parents and Guardians,
Good afternoon! I hope you made it through a week that felt more like mid-July with temperatures in the upper 90s.
As the second week of the school year comes to a close, I want to thank you for all of your support and helping to make the last two weeks a total success. In over 25 years of being in public education, there has not been a year I can remember that has felt more positive than the start to this school year. What I see taking place in the classrooms and throughout the building truly excites me for a really GREAT year! We need to keep encouraging the kids to come with a positive attitude and give their best effort each day.
It was fantastic to see so many of you attend Wednesday's Back-to-School Night. We are hopeful the experience allowed you to meet your child's teachers and provide you with information to best support your child this school year. As your building Principal, I cannot tell you how good it felt to see this entire learning community spending time together at MMS. The smiles, compliments and the sharing of great memories of the past provided me a reminder of how lucky I am to work in Mechanicsburg.
Have a outstanding weekend and THANK YOU!
Joel A. Yohn, MMS Principal

The Marketplace at MMS
Mechanicsburg Area School District is privileged to offer a weekend food distribution program free of charge for those in need. Weekly non-perishable and easy to prepare foods will be made available to middle school students and their families who pre-register with The M.M.S. Marketplace. Students who were enrolled in the Food Pack program during the 2022-23 school year at the Mechanicsburg Middle School or Elmwood Academy are already registered in the program this school year which will start with Food Pack distribution on Friday, September 8th and continue weekly on the last school day of each week. Students who are new to the program may register by scanning this QR Code or email Mrs. Coffman at mcoffman@mbgsd.org to be included in the program. Thank You.
Dress Code
There have been some modifications made to the District Dress Code policy that all students and parents should be aware for the upcoming school year. I would highly suggest you familiarize yourself and your child with it by visiting our District's website (School Board -> District Policies -> 200 Pupils -> 221 Dress Code or by clicking on the following link). Specifically, I would advise you to review the revised "Guidelines" that provide detailed information regarding what students are permitted/not permitted to wear to school.
