ConKerr Cancer Pillowcases
Help cheer up young kids with cancer by donating!
Adolescents with cancer
There are approximately 13,400 kids diagnosed with cancer each year. Every three minutes, another child is diagnosed with cancer. In fact, 1 out of every 285 kids in the United States will get cancer before the age of 20. These kids with cancer have to spend a lot of time in the hospital getting treatments such as chemotherapy, which wipes out their immune system to diseases, and so here is a way to help them! You can donate fabric or your own pillowcases to ConKerr Cancer to help make kids with cancer in hospitals happy.
What does ConKerr Cancer do?
ConKerr Cancer is an organization that helps kids with cancer, by sending them pillowcases. The pillowcases they send are bright and fun, and meant to cheer up children facing cancer in hospitals. You can donate pillowcases to them to be sent all over the country. For every pillowcase you send, there will be another kid with a smile on their face.
What are we doing?
This year the Gilbert FCS 7th grade class will be making and donating pillowcases to ConKerr Cancer. We could use your help in getting fabric and money for this project. If you would like to donate fabric, you need:
- 3/4 yard of cotton for pillowcase
- This will be patterned, bright, and fun
- 1/3 yard of cotton for the border of the pillowcase
- This should be a solid contrasting color to the pattern
Remember to choose bright and fun fabrics because the patients receiving them will be adolescent boys and girls. If Gilbert participates in this, then we can make a big difference, and put lots of smiles on kids' faces.
