2021-2022 School Year
The start of our school year, 2021-2022, has been a wonderful welcome back to school for our scholars and staff. Our scholars have quickly adapted to safety procedures and expectations. They are also demonstrating our school wide character traits, TERRIFICC!

Upcoming Additions
Riverside Unified School District strives to staff all schools at the appropriate teacher to student ratio. Highgrove Elementary has several grade levels that are impacted with higher ratios than expected. In the coming days, we will need to adjust classroom assignments in order to accommodate our growing student population. This is a wonderful opportunity for all students. We will be able to lower the class sizes for our primary students, and reduce combination classes. Beginning Tuesday, September 14, 2021:
Mrs. Solorzano will transition from teaching Kindergarten to First grade.
Mrs. Crane will transition from teaching a First and Second grade combination class to a straight Second grade.
Mr. Curtis will transition from teaching a Fourth and Fifth grade combination class to a straight Fifth grade.
Mrs. Colmer will transition from teaching a Fifth and Sixth grade combination class to a straight Sixth grade.
Ms. Miranda Simpson is joining us September 7 to teach 3rd and 4th.
Ms. Bowen is joining us on September 14 to teach Kindergarten.
Ms. Calderon is joining us on September 14 to teach Third grade.
Ms. Nollett is joining us on September 14 to teach Fourth grade.
Please know it is our goal to make this transition as smooth as possible. Class changes can be made easier with the support and cooperation of parents. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support during this transition period for students at Highgrove Elementary. If you have any questions, please call us at (951) 788-7296.
Character Counts at NEU Highgrove
We take pride in how well our scholars demonstrate strong character every day. This month of September we are focusing on Respect and Responsibility. Please share with your child the many ways they can demonstrate these traits at home and at school.

Highgrove would like to invite you to participate as an active and voting member or alternate member on the 2021-2022 Highgrove School Site Council/ Title 1 Advisory Council. Any parent of a student enrolled at Highgrove Elementary or Riverside community member may serve on the council. It is a great way to become involved in the decisions concerning the school’s academic and Title 1 programs. This commitment only requires that you attend seven to eight meetings.
If you are interested in being part of our SSC for the position of parent/ community member representative, complete the nomination form that was sent home the week of Sept. 6 and return it to the front office by September 14, 2021. You may also contact Mrs. Melina Torres at 951 788-7296 to give her your nomination. Afterwards, we will send home ballots to vote for the parent/ community member representatives who will join the council.
