Note from Mrs.Prunty:
This year has been very busy. We have had a great season in all of our fall sports and achieved many goals. Congratulations to our Dragon players for their accomplishments and representing Warren Central with true Dragon spirit.
Kentucky's Unbridled Learning - College/Career-Readiness for All kicked off last year. This is a new assessment system Kentucky has adopted. We have received the results of our students' progress. Warren Central scored 50.9 and is classified as needs improvement. We had no areas of focus identified by the state. Our score was determined by five areas (Achievement, gap, growth in reading and mathematics, college and career readiness, graduation rate). For more information, go to our website, click on downloads and you can view our school report card.
Scores across Kentucky were expected to be lower than in the past because of the rigor and new focus in the new accountability model. We are proud of our students and are dedicated to continue to increase student achievement. Our administration team and teachers have analyzed our data, identified areas to improve, and are focusing on college and career readiness for our students
Teachers are meeting weekly in their Professional Learning Communities to discuss rigor, assessments, student needs, and interventions. We have identified students who need more assistance to meet benchmarks on the ACT and are providing interventions during FOCUS. We also offer ESS (after-school) sessions on ACT strategies for students to raise their ACT score and provide interventions for our CTE students to assist them in passing KOSSA and receive industry certification. For more information on ESS sessions, when they are offered, and how they can benefit your child, call the guidance department.
Our staff is dedicated to our children and truly cares about each of them and their future. If you have specific questions about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to call, email, or come by the office. My door is always open and we encourage you to be a part of Warren Central High School. My email address is tina.prunty@warren.kyschools.us and our phone number is 270.781.2401.
