Week at a Glance

March 10-14

I'm such a bad Momma! Tigger hurt his front "elbow" over a week ago and I just took him to the vet this week. Tigger is a pretty rough and tumble type cat, and he is always getting into trouble so I didn't think much about his injury at first. It's not the first time he has hurt himself, and I'm sure it won't be the last! The difference this time, though, is that he didn't recover right away. I'm guessing he fell from the top of my home office furniture which nearly reaches the ceiling in my office.

I was out in the kitchen when I heard a crash. Knowing Tigger, he probably jumped up on top of the desk hutch, rolled on his back to rub the back of his head on the hutch, and BOOM . . .fell on the desk surface! Poor kid! He is still limping from this latest injury and is on pain meds two times a day. He is starting to feel better, though. How do I know? Mr. Tigger woke me up at 3:41 a.m. this morning by knocking stuff off my dresser to wake me up to feed him. Yep! He's feeling better. Wish he would have waited to the normal 6:30 a.m. time, however!

  • ISTEP: Just a reminder that ISTEP testing will take place throughout the building Tuesday through Friday of this week. Most of the testing will take place in the morning; however, make up tests may be done in the afternoon depending on needs. Any Success group that meets at 10:25 a.m. in the extra kindergarten room will need to find an alternate location. Small group testing will be done in the MP room, speech room, art room, music room, and office area. Also, reminder to staff administering and proctoring ISTEP, no cell phones are permitted in the room when testing. Lindsay would be happy to hold onto your phone until testing is over. iPads and laptops need to be stowed away at the locations previously discussed. Lastly, be sure that all reference materials are covered up including nametags that have multiplication charts or other reference information.
  • DATA MEETINGS: Because of ISTEP testing, I am not able to hold all the data meetings this week. I will meet with grades 2-5 next Monday. Please see the schedule below for all meeting dates and times.
  • POPCORN: I have purchased popcorn as the treat for our school meeting the 500,000 minute reading mark! The popcorn is already popped, and I will have it in the lounge for you. There is one bag per grade level with the exception of third grade. Please share with FLS and preschool. There are some paper "boats" to put the popcorn in and some napkins too. Please take the items you need for your grade level. I did purchase some alternate snacks for students who are unable to eat popcorn due to braces, choking hazard, etc. I will have those in the lounge too. You can decide what day you give your students the snack. You can keep any leftover popcorn to divvy out as snacks at your discretion.
  • TWO-COLUMN NOTES: Several of you have shared with me how you are implementing two-column notes in your classrooms. That's awesome, especially since you just learned about them this past week! Keep up the great work! Be sure to save examples for our sharing session on the 18th. :-)
