Dunn's Corners School

Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe

November 19, 2021

Good afternoon DCS!

First, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Matt O'Neil who was the guest speaker at the DCS 5th Annual Veterans Day assembly last Friday. He did an outstanding job! Also, the students made postcards for our local Veterans. I was able to send them off to the local VFW! Kids making a difference!

This month, our schoolwide theme is skills for learning: listening, focusing attention, using self-talk to stay on-task, and being assertive when asking for help with a learning task. In our morning announcements and school assembly, we’ll be reminding students of these skills, which help students be successful learners.

Finally, remember to go directly to your child's teacher for any questions, concerns, positive feedback, or for information about the school day.

We will be using #dcsanchors all over social media. Look for it on twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Morrone, Proud Principal of DCS!

Parent drop off times will be changing starting Monday, November 1, 2021. Parent drop off at the gym door will be from 8:20 am - 8:45 am. After 8:45 am, please park your car and walk your child to the main office. At the main entrance, press the button to your right and enter in the door to your right when instructed by office staff. Children will be considered tardy if arriving after 8:45 am. Thank you for your flexibility.

Attendance UPDATE

The realistic goal is to have less than 5% chronically absent, but ultimately 0%. Chronically absent is defined as being out 10% of the days in school. This data impacts our STAR rating. Currently, we are at 10% chronically absent. Keep up the great work!

Thank you veterans!

We celebrated our veterans and active military members at our 5th Annual DCS Veterans Day Assembly. Students celebrated in person, during the day, but we could not allow guests due to Covid restrictions. We had a virtual assembly that streamed into each classroom. The assembly included a slideshow that honors our military families. Click here to see the slide show.
