Glacier Ridge Elementary School 12.10.21
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
What a great week of music we have had for Glacier Ridge. On Tuesday our 5th grade band held their first band concert and we were all blown away. Great job by Mrs. Guthrie and all our band students. Then last night our 4th and 5th graders performed a Holiday concert at Crystal Lake South High School. What a great job they did and they all looked so nice. A huge thank you to Mrs. Evans, all the parent and staff volunteers and to CLSHS for putting the evening together. All students will have a chance to watch a recording of the show during their Holiday party next Friday.
Next week is spirit week and every day has a theme. Check out the link below to see what's in store.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Mr. Jacobsen and Mrs. Reinhardt

Encore for Remote Learners
It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's SUPER Library!
Our library is becoming a Winter Wonderland! We have read all kinds of holiday and winter books, and students are working to create snowflakes and snow projects to welcome us back in 2022!
Need something to do when it's too cold outside? CHECK OUT our Save The Snowman GR Library Contest, Due 1-7-2022. Save your snowman from melting in the sun by following these steps:
- Pick up a snowman outline from the GR library OR print one by clicking here --> bit.ly/snowmanproject2022
- Disguise your snowman as a character from a book you have read. Use crayons, pipe cleaners, paint, feathers, colored paper, etc. to be as creative as you'd like.
- On the back, write student first and last name, class code (grade and teacher, like 2T), the character's name, and the book title that your character came from.
- Turn in to the GR Library by 1-7-2022. Prizes will be awarded the next week.
More news will be coming SOON about our Reading Incentive which will begin in January. The Crystal Lake Public Library Winter Reading Program will start in January, too. Minutes will count for BOTH reading programs. For now, KEEP READING!
Please be sure your child brings their library books to school (and to the library) on their class's library day. Thank you for continuing to look for books. We are thrilled to see so many books coming back! If you cannot find a book, or a book is damaged, please email gwjohnston@d47.org and we will send information about replacing the book. THANK YOU!

Cold Weather Policies
Reminder: Inclement Weather
District 47 families received a message about winter weather and planning for possible school closings in early November. Should schools need to close due to inclement weather, District 47 students will be utilizing the emergency “snow day” in the school calendar as we did prior to COVID.
Elementary lunch menu changes
Due to staffing and supply chain issues, Sodexo will be reducing its lunch menu options for D47 elementary schools beginning in December. Students will be able to choose from the hot lunch item being served that day or “Fun on the Run.” These changes will be reflected on the December elementary lunch menu.

Debido a problemas con dotación de personal y la cadena de suministro, Sodexo reducirá sus opciones de almuerzo para escuelas primarias de D47 empezando en diciembre.
