Cougar Connection
Carl Cozier News ~ September 6, 2019
Note from the Principal
Dear Families,
What a wonderful first two weeks of the new school year! It's been such a joy seeing your children, watching them laugh with new and returning friends, and hearing the excitement for learning in their conversations. If you've had a chance to be in the building this year, you'll notice that we're working hard to make our space more inviting, calm and "spruced up". Kids are noticing the feeling of the building and we're so happy to share these improvements with our school community.
Each month, you'll receive an electronic copy of my newsletter, Cougar Connection. This is a great way to learn about new initiatives in our school, calendar important dates and stay up to date on everything Cozier Cougar!
Thank you for sharing your children with us each day. They are all truly remarkable and I am excited to see them grow this year. Please reach out if there's anything I can do to support your family.
With gratitude,
Ari Feeney
New Dean of Students, Laura Britt
Laura has a great deal of experience and brings a set of new ideas and strategies for supporting all learners in our school community. Ms. Britt shares her time between Cozier and Birchwood, where she is also Dean of Students. Laura's primary responsibilities will be student support, ensuring safe, fun play outside, implementing a school-wide student leadership program, and helping all kids be successful in their classrooms.
Please introduce yourself to Ms. Britt when you see her around our building.

Gardening with Common Threads
Hello! My name is Abby Counihan. I’m delighted to join the Carl Cozier community as the new Common Threads AmeriCorps Food Educator. This fall, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will explore and learn in the garden classroom as they help build healthy soil, save seeds, plant cover crop, and enjoy the harvest! A huge THANKS to all who helped care for the garden during the summer! If you’d like to volunteer in the garden (for lessons or garden maintenance) please let me know: abby@commonthreadsfarm.org .
